National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man welcomed and appreciated National Assembly Chairman Woo Won Shik's choice of Vietnam as the first country to visit in Southeast Asia.
The visit significantly contributes to promoting the Vietnam - Korea Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and the growing cooperation between the two countries' National Assemblies .


National Assembly Chairman Woo Won Shik expressed his joy at returning to visit Vietnam and congratulated the great achievements Vietnam has made.
He emphasized that Korea continues to maintain its position as the number one foreign direct investor and the third largest trade partner of Vietnam, and the two sides have reached the milestone of 5 million visits to each other in 2024. He said that the two sides have many cultural similarities, have become each other's leading economic partners, and have an inseparable relationship.
In an atmosphere of friendship, the two National Assembly Chairmen expressed their delight at the good progress in the relationship between the two countries.
The two National Assembly Chairmen highly appreciated parliamentary diplomacy and cooperation between the two countries’ National Assemblies. This is a highlight, playing an important role in supervising and promoting the implementation of high-level agreements, sharing legislative experience and enhancing mutual understanding.


National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and National Assembly Chairman Woo Won Shik agreed to promote economic cooperation. The two countries should strive to soon complete the target of increasing bilateral trade turnover to 150 billion USD by 2030. Vietnam and the Republic of Korea can expand cooperation in the fields of industry, energy and technology transfer to serve common development goals.
Mr. Woo Won Shik hopes that Vietnam will continue to create favorable conditions, pay attention to support and remove difficulties so that Korean enterprises can feel secure to invest stably and long-term in Vietnam.
On the basis of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, the two sides agreed to continue expanding cooperation in human resource training, culture, tourism and people-to-people exchange, thereby creating greater connection between the people of the two countries.


National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man thanked and hoped that National Assembly Chairman Woo Won Shik and the Korean National Assembly would continue to pay attention to and protect the legitimate rights of the Vietnamese community in Korea, including about 100,000 Vietnamese-Korean multicultural families, so that they can live, study and work in peace for a long time.
The two sides agreed to effectively implement the new memorandum of understanding on cooperation between the two countries' National Assemblies signed during the visit; maintain regular delegation exchanges to enhance experience sharing in building laws and institutions for sustainable development; and promote the role of the two countries' legislative bodies in coordinating the supervision of the implementation of international treaties and cooperation agreements signed between the two governments.
The two sides will also enhance cooperation and promote the bridging role of the Friendship Parliamentarians' Groups of the two National Assemblies; continue to strengthen coordination and mutual support at regional and international inter-parliamentary forums.


At the talks, the two sides discussed a number of regional and international issues of mutual concern and agreed to closely coordinate and contribute to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.
After the talks, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and National Assembly Chairman Woo Won Shik signed a new memorandum of understanding on cooperation between the two countries' parliaments. Mr. Woo Won Shik and the delegation attended the session of the Vietnamese National Assembly and visited the archaeological exhibition area under the National Assembly building.
