Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park: Promoting ecotourism, attracting tourists

Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park has been approved by Quang Tri province to implement three eco-tourism projects in Song Chay-Hang Toi, Suoi Nuoc Mooc, and Hang Kling with a total investment of VND33.49 billion.

Quang Tri province has just approved three eco -tourism projects under the Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park Eco-tourism, Resort and Entertainment Project.

The implementation of the projects not only aims to diversify ecotourism products and improve tourist experiences, but also contributes to the development of green, sustainable tourism associated with nature conservation.

Specifically, the eco-tourism project "Diversifying tourism products and services at the Song Chay-Hang Toi eco-tourism site", with a total investment of more than 14.6 billion VND, is implemented in the form of socialization; deployed in sub-area 606, Phong Nha commune with an area of ​​180,000m2.

The eco-tourism project “Diversifying tourism products and services at Suoi Nuoc Mooc eco-tourism site” has a total investment capital of more than 14.6 billion VND, implemented in the form of socialization; deployed in Thuong Trach commune with a total area of ​​35 hectares, of which the construction area is more than 4,500m2.

The eco-tourism project “ Discovering Bach Xanh Da and Hang Kling”, implemented in sub-areas 645, 643 and 288A of Thuong Trach commune, with a total investment capital of 4.29 billion VND in the form of investment cooperation, implementation period until 2030.

The above projects are all part of the Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park Ecotourism, Resort and Entertainment Project and are invested by the National Park Management Board.

The objectives of the projects are to effectively exploit the value of Phong Nha-Ke Bang World Natural Heritage; develop sustainable tourism, meet the increasing needs of tourists; contribute to diversifying tourism products in the National Park; create jobs for local workers and increase budget revenue.

With a majestic cave system hidden in primeval forests and unspoiled natural landscapes, Phong Nha-Ke Bang always attracts a large number of tourists who love exploration and adventure.

Phong Nha-Ke Bang is located in a limestone mountain area of ​​about 201,000 hectares. The core area of ​​the national park is 85,754 hectares and a buffer zone of 195,400 hectares.

The characteristics of this national park are limestone formations, 300 caves, underground rivers and rare flora and fauna listed in the Vietnam Red Book and the World Red Book.

Having undergone many major changes in stratigraphy and geomorphology, the terrain of this area is extremely complex. Phong Nha-Ke Bang displays impressive evidence of the Earth's history, helping researchers understand the geological history and topography of the area.

From the above advantages, identifying Phong Nha-Ke Bang as a place to attract tourists to Quang Binh, Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park has gradually diversified tourism products, proactively and synchronously implemented many solutions to bring Phong Nha tourism to significant development steps.

From only having 1 tourist attraction Phong Nha-Tien Son cave, up to now, Phong Nha-Ke Bang has had 17 tourist routes and attractions in operation with many rich and diverse types of tourism such as nature exploration, caves, Camping, Trecking, Zipline.

In particular, the tour "Conquering Son Doong - the world's largest cave" is considered one of the international-class tours, voted by foreign press as one of the world's most attractive tourist destinations.

To continue promoting the values ​​of the World Heritage, the People's Committee of Quang Binh Province (old) (now Quang Tri) has issued a Decision approving the Project on Ecotourism, Resorts and Entertainment of Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park for the period 2021-2030.

The project aims to exploit the potential and advantages of natural resources, biodiversity, and cave systems associated with the cultural identity of ethnic groups. At the same time, it continues to improve the economic efficiency of the National Park; contribute to job creation, increase income, and improve the lives of local people; call for investment in building new eco-tourism, recreation and entertainment routes, contributing to diversifying tourism products and attracting tourists.

The project aims to have about 3 million tourists visiting Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park by 2030, with total revenue reaching about 1,500 billion VND.

In the first 9 months of 2025, tourist routes and destinations in Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park welcomed more than 836,900 visitors, of which domestic visitors accounted for more than 688,000, up 2% over the same period last year, and international visitors reached more than 148,000, up 18%.

By 2025, Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park strives to welcome over 1 million visitors, while continuing to develop sustainable tourism products, improving visitor experiences and preserving the natural values ​​of the heritage.

Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park has also been honored by many world travel organizations and websites.

Most recently, Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park won double at the World Travel Awards (WTA) 2025 in September 2025 in Hong Kong (China), with two prestigious categories: Vietnam's Leading Natural Destination 2025 and Asia's Leading National Park 2025./.
