2 routes are prioritized for research
On October 24, the People's Committee of Da Nang City organized a workshop "Building the urban railway system in Da Nang - Vision, challenges and sustainable solutions".
This is one of the important strategic issues of Da Nang city with the participation of many expert agencies of the Ministry of Transport , representatives of the leaders of the Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway Project Management Boards.
According to Mr. Luong Thach Vy, Deputy Director of the Department of Construction of Da Nang, the current planning orientation of Da Nang city's urban railway is based on the latest planning, based on the space of the new Da Nang city after the merger.

Accordingly, the city plans to build 17 urban railway routes with a length of more than 204km from now until 2045.
In the urban railway system, the priority research route includes the first route connecting Da Nang International Airport - Hoi An - Tam Ky - Chu Lai.
This route is divided into 2 phases. Phase 1 connects Da Nang International Airport to Hoi An, including LRT2 railway connecting Da Nang Airport - My Khe Beach, more than 7km long, and MRT2 connecting Vietnam - Korea University - Da Nang Station, currently more than 17km long with investment plan from 2025-2030.
Phase 2 of the post-2030 investment plan connects Hoi An - Tam Ky - Chu Lai.
Line 2: The priority for research is the railway connecting the high-speed railway station to the Central Urban Railway Station. The goal of this railway line is to serve the connection between the National High-Speed Railway Station area and the city center area.
This route will be implemented according to the progress of the national high-speed railway project through Da Nang city.

Where does investment come from?
According to the Department of Construction of Da Nang, there are expected to be 3 sources of investment in the construction of the urban railway system. Including public investment capital from the state budget; ODA capital and preferential loans from foreign donors; capital from investors and investment capital under the public-private partnership (PPP) method.
At this workshop, Mr. Le Quang Nam, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City, affirmed that the city is in a period of strong transformation towards the goal of becoming a major socio -economic center of Southeast Asia, a livable, smart and modern city.

However, with growth, pressure on the transport system is increasing.
Traffic congestion, environmental pollution and the increasing travel needs of people and tourists are posing many challenges.
"To maintain growth and improve quality of life, Da Nang needs a breakthrough in transport infrastructure.
And the most strategic and priority solution is to build a modern, efficient and sustainable urban railway system," Mr. Nam affirmed.

Symbol of aspiration to bring Da Nang to new heights
At the workshop, Da Nang leaders emphasized that the urban railway system is not only a means of connection, but also a sustainable solution, contributing to reducing traffic congestion, minimizing carbon emissions and encouraging environmentally friendly transportation.
At the same time, this is also the driving force for socio-economic growth, trade, services, tourism and logistics growth in neighboring areas.
According to Mr. Le Quang Nam, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City, this is not just a traffic project, it is a project of vision, demonstrating the aspiration to bring Da Nang to regional stature, connecting functional areas, maintaining economic growth and creating a greener, cleaner, and more beautiful living environment for future generations.
