According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Thi - Vice Chairwoman of Da Nang City People's Committee, the planning implemented over the past 13 years has greatly contributed to preserving and promoting heritage values.

The relic system has been renovated and restored; many structures have escaped the risk of serious degradation. The awareness and role of the local community have been raised.

Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Dao Cuong said that Hoi An ancient heritage is a priceless asset left by our ancestors. History over hundreds of years shows that Hoi An has been preserved and moved towards sustainability thanks to the joint efforts of generations.

The biggest turning point was UNESCO recognizing Hoi An as a World Cultural Heritage in 1999, from which the heritage's influence spread globally.

Sharing opinions at the meeting on the morning of October 20, conservation experts and cultural researchers said that Hoi An still faces challenges such as pressure from urbanization, the boom in tourism causing relics to seriously degrade, and ancient houses gradually losing the warmth of human life...

"This model needs to clearly define the management entity, coordinating agency, and participating parties to ensure consistency in heritage conservation and development.

In particular, there needs to be a unified perception of the overall nature of Hoi An ancient urban heritage to ensure that the heritage's constituent elements are not divided among new administrative units after the arrangement.

"Thereby maintaining the integrity, authenticity and outstanding global value of the heritage" - Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Da Nang City mentioned.
