The People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City has just sent a document to relevant departments and branches conveying the conclusions and instructions of Vice Chairman of the People's Committee Nguyen Van Dung regarding the establishment of a pork trading floor.

According to this document, the City People's Committee assigned the Department of Industry and Trade to fully absorb comments and continue to closely coordinate with the Vietnam Commodity Exchange (MXV), the City High Technology Association and relevant departments, branches and units.

At the same time, review information and data on the production and trading of pork products in the area; complete the pilot plan for pork trading through the trading floor; build a model, prepare technical infrastructure, connect relevant units (farms, slaughterhouses, logistics, warehouses, inspection...); carefully prepare and be ready to operate the pilot model of pork trading through the trading floor.

Connect a number of large-scale entities in the pork supply chain; make a list of buyers and sellers expected to participate in pork transactions through the floor, organize training and conduct trial transactions (transactions within a narrow scope) no later than December 31, 2025.

Evaluate, adjust, and complete the pilot model of pork trading through the trading floor; advise on the content of the report to the members of the City People's Committee before reporting to the Standing Committee of the City People's Committee Party Committee no later than March 31, 2026.

Promote the implementation of the Quality Control Cooperation Program (Responsible Green Tick) for pork products; ensure that 100% of pork products traded through the trading floor are "Responsible Green Tick" products; mobilize retail systems, collective kitchens, school canteens... in the city to prioritize the use of "Responsible Green Tick" products.

Conduct surveys and work with neighboring provinces and cities to unify disease control procedures; research needs and mobilize pork farmers and processors to participate in transactions through the floor; grasp the supply and demand situation of goods in preparation for the Lunar New Year 2026.

In addition, the City People's Committee also requested relevant departments, branches and units to proactively coordinate and support the Department of Industry and Trade and MXV.

Specifically, the Department of Agriculture and Environment shares information on businesses, livestock units, and slaughterhouses in the city with MXV to select and invite reputable, qualified units to participate in the pilot; support MXV in building a set of criteria and procedures for disease safety control for pork traded through the floor...

The Department of Food Safety coordinates with MXV to check food safety for pork traded through the exchange; share traceability data for pork supply and pork products traded through the exchange with MXV...

Wholesale markets coordinate with MXV to select and introduce pork traders to participate in the pilot; share information and data on pork transactions at wholesale markets with MXV; arrange locations for installing screens displaying pork transaction activities through the floor.

Previously, on October 17, the Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee chaired a meeting to listen to a progress report on the project to build a pork trading floor.

The representative of the Department of Industry and Trade said that the project has been launched and built in the past time. At this time, the industry and trade sector is actively working with the Department of Food Safety and the Department of Agriculture and Environment to soon complete the stages related to traceability information and participating subjects...

The trading floor is considered one of the solutions to create a stable sales channel for businesses, and ensure food safety for consumers in the most populous city in the country.

In the old Ho Chi Minh City, the average daily pork output was about 9,000 - 10,000 pigs, most of which were brought from the wholesale market to the retail market.
