The 8th meeting of the Vietnam - Argentina Intergovernmental Committee on economic, trade and scientific and technological cooperation

On October 24, 2025, the 8th Session of the Intergovernmental Committee on Economic, Trade and Scientific and Technological Cooperation between Vietnam and Argentina was held in both in-person and online formats in Hanoi and Buenos Aires.

The meeting was co-chaired by Deputy Minister Phan Thi Thang and Secretary of State for International Economic Relations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs , Foreign Trade and Religious Affairs of Argentina, Ambassador Fernando Brun.

Participants from Vietnam included the Vietnamese Ambassador to the Republic of Argentina, representatives of the Ministries of Industry and Trade, Foreign Affairs, Agriculture and Environment, Finance, Science and Technology, Culture, Sports and Tourism.

The two sides reviewed the results achieved since the 7th Meeting of the Vietnam - Argentina Joint Committee for Cooperation held in August 2021, thereby identifying the work contents that need to be implemented in the coming time to continue promoting bilateral cooperation in the fields of economy , trade, agriculture, science and technology, finance, transportation, etc.

Within the framework of the Meeting, the two sides discussed measures to increase two-way trade turnover and diversify the structure of import and export goods to gradually balance the bilateral trade balance. The two sides agreed to strengthen trade promotion activities to support the business community of the two countries to access each other's markets; and continue to discuss the opening of markets for each country's key agricultural products.

In addition, the delegations of the two sides highly appreciated the efforts and results of cooperation in many fields such as agriculture, finance, transportation and science and technology, and committed to promoting cooperation in contents such as culture, sports and tourism.

In the context of the global economic difficulties, the 8th Session of the Vietnam - Argentina Intergovernmental Committee is an appropriate time for the two sides to review the achieved results and agree on cooperation contents to propose solutions to further promote cooperation between the two countries, especially in the fields of economics, trade and investment.

At the end of the meeting, Deputy Minister Phan Thi Thang and Secretary of State for International Economic Relations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and Religious Affairs of Argentina, Ambassador Fernando Brun signed the Minutes of the 8th Session of the Intergovernmental Committee on Economic, Trade and Scientific and Technological Cooperation between Vietnam and Argentina.

In 2024, two-way trade turnover between Vietnam and Argentina will reach 4.1 billion USD, up 19% compared to 2023. Of which, Vietnam exported 520 million USD to Argentina, down 46.7%, Vietnam imported 3.58 billion USD from Argentina, up 45%. In the first 9 months of 2025, bilateral trade turnover will reach 3.48 billion USD, up 25.6% over the same period in 2024. Of which, Vietnam exported 772 million USD, up nearly 130%; imported 2.71 billion USD from Argentina, up 11.2% over the same period in 2024. Argentina is currently Vietnam's 3rd largest trading partner in Latin America and 5th in the Americas.
