Nitya Chambers, editorial director and vice president of content at Lonely Planet , said this year's list honors places that "both have a strong local identity and demonstrate the resilience of post-pandemic tourism," according to CNN.
In the list of top 25 destinations this year, Vietnam has only one representative, Quy Nhon. Quy Nhon city, now Quy Nhon ward ( Gia Lai province), is nestled between the sea on one side and the mountains on the other with long coastlines.
Known as the “green pearl of the Central region”, this place is famous for its soft curved beaches, clear water and wild rocky cliffs such as Eo Gio, Ky Co or Hon Kho.
Not only does Quy Nhon have charming natural landscapes, it also preserves the Cham culture through relics such as Banh It Tower, Twin Towers, and a unique cuisine with fish noodle soup, jumping shrimp pancakes and fresh seafood.
In recent years, Quy Nhon tourism has developed strongly, attracting visitors thanks to its peaceful atmosphere, hospitable people and increasingly rich accommodation services. This city is becoming an ideal destination for those who want to find blue sea, white sand, golden sunshine while still retaining the rustic, authentic features of Central Vietnam.
Besides Quy Nhon, many other famous destinations in the world were also honored by Lonely Planet such as Cádiz (Spain), Utrecht (Netherlands), Cartagena (Colombia), Quetzaltenango (Xela, Guatemala), Akaria-Flinders Rangers & Outback (Australia), Phuket (Thailand), Barbados (Caribbean) and British Columbia (Canada).
With its first edition published in 1973 under the title Across Asia on the Cheap, Lonely Planet is known as the world's most successful travel guidebook publishing empire, with over 145 million copies sold.
Hanoi is among the top destinations for viewing autumn leaves in the continent. Along with many famous names such as Nami Island (South Korea), Kyoto (Japan) or Jiuzhaigou (China), Hanoi is the only representative of Vietnam to appear in the list of the most beautiful destinations in Asia to view autumn leaves announced by Time Out.
