Nam Du has a total area of about 9.12 km², located in the southeast of Phu Quoc special zone. The islands were formed millions of years ago by volcanic activity, creating a unique terrain with mountains, forests and coastlines blending together. The largest island is Hon Cu Tron, home to more than 7,500 residents who mainly work in fishing and aquaculture.
From Rach Gia, the speedboat takes more than 3 hours to take tourists across the waves. When the boat arrives at Nam Du port, the majestic natural scenery appears, towering in the middle of the deep blue ocean. The roads around the island are more than 9 km long, winding along the mountainside, one side is endless green forest, the other side is the immense blue sea, the scenery makes anyone stop to admire.
A must-see destination in Nam Du is Bai Cay Men, which is considered the “Maldives of Vietnam”. The beach is white, curved, and lined with coconut trees that cast their shadows on the crystal clear water. Visitors can enjoy swimming, SUPing, or snorkeling.
When night falls, Nam Du port becomes bustling again. Tourists enjoy fresh seafood dishes such as sea urchin porridge, grilled oysters, and blue bone fish, while watching hundreds of sparkling lights of boats on the sea. In this scene, the people of the West Sea still diligently stick to the sea, firmly maintaining sovereignty at the forefront of the wind and waves.
The best time to visit Nam Du is the dry season, from October of the previous year to April of the following year, when the sea is calm, the sky is clear and the sun is bright yellow. The island still retains its rare pristine beauty. With great tourism potential and gentle natural beauty, Nam Du deserves to be a promising new destination for Kien Giang tourism, where visitors find peace in the middle of the deep blue ocean.
