Snowfall in Ha Giang

(Dan Tri Newspaper) - This morning, snow unexpectedly fell in three villages of two communes in Meo Vac district ( Ha Giang province). This area borders China. The temperature dropped sharply to 0 degrees Celsius.

On the morning of January 26th, speaking with a reporter from Dan Tri newspaper , Mr. Chao Chin Chan, Chairman of Thuong Phung commune (Meo Vac district, Ha Giang province), said that at 8:00 AM that day, snow unexpectedly fell accompanied by light rain in Lung Van Chai village (Xin Cai commune), Xin Phin Chu village, and Mo Phang village (Thuong Phung commune). The temperature dropped to 0 degrees Celsius.

According to Mr. Chan, the snow and rain stopped around 10 am that day. However, the snowfall did not create a scene of trees being completely covered in white, because wherever the snow fell, the rainwater melted it all away.

"For several days now, the authorities have been urging people to stockpile food and build shelters to keep livestock and poultry warm. This morning, the authorities continued to broadcast instructions on keeping people warm, so no unexpected situations occurred, and the animals were not significantly affected," Mr. Chan said.

The National Center for Meteorological and Hydrological Forecasting announced that a strong cold front will affect many areas in the North and Central regions starting tonight.

According to forecasts, from January 26th, the Northern and North Central regions of Vietnam will experience intense cold, with severe cold in mountainous areas, and the possibility of frost and ice in high mountainous regions.

The lowest temperature will be 10-13 degrees Celsius, with some mountainous areas experiencing temperatures below 9 degrees Celsius; the highest temperature will be 15-18 degrees Celsius, with some areas exceeding 18 degrees Celsius.

Northeast Vietnam: Cloudy, with scattered rain and showers, and thunderstorms in some areas. Northeast wind at level 3, level 3-4 in coastal areas, with gusts up to level 6 in some places. Cold at night, intensely cold in some areas, intensely cold during the day, and extremely cold in mountainous areas.
