According to the seedings announced by FIFA, the Vietnam U17 team is almost certainly in Group 4. This means the Southeast Asian representative risks being drawn into a very difficult group, where they could face top powerhouses of world youth football such as Argentina, Brazil, or Spain.

The 2026 U17 World Cup also marks a historic turning point as FIFA increased the number of participating teams to 48. As the host nation, Qatar was seeded in Group 1. Asia had a total of 9 representatives, including 8 teams that qualified from the U17 Asian Championship finals along with Qatar. Meanwhile, Europe contributed 11 spots, Africa had 10 teams, CONCACAF had 8 tickets, South America had 7 representatives, and Oceania had 3 teams.
