All members of the U23 Vietnam team traveled from Jakarta to Ho Chi Minh City. At around 6:15 p.m., U23 Vietnam appeared at the exit of the arrival hall of Tan Son Nhat Airport. The players and coach Kim Sang Sik were immediately surrounded by fans.

The Vietnam U23 team won the U23 Southeast Asian Championship for the third consecutive time. Coach Kim Sang Sik kept saying the word “pride” about his players’ fighting spirit.
Last night (July 29), at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium in Jakarta, the Vietnam U23 team resiliently defeated host Indonesia U23 1-0 in the final match of this year's Southeast Asian U23 tournament.

In addition to the championship, U23 Vietnam also received an individual award as the best player of the tournament, awarded to striker Nguyen Dinh Bac. Upon arriving at Tan Son Nhat airport, Dinh Bac said: “My emotions at that time were hard to describe. Especially when the referee blew the whistle to end the match, I could not contain my emotions.”
“I am really proud. We have achieved the goal of winning the championship,” added Nguyen Dinh Bac, the best player of the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 tournament.
Immediately after arriving at Tan Son Nhat airport, most of the members of the U23 Vietnam team moved to the domestic airport to catch a flight back to Hanoi . The flight from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi of many members of the U23 Vietnam team departed at 8:00 p.m.
At Noi Bai International Airport (Hanoi), the Vietnam U23 team continued to receive a solemn welcome from the leaders of the sports industry and the Vietnam Football Federation. Welcoming the team back at the airport were Mr. Hoang Dao Cuong - Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Mr. Nguyen Hong Minh - Deputy Director of the Department of Physical Training and Sports ; Mr. Hoang Quoc Vinh - Head of the Department of High Performance Sports .
Sharing with the media, Coach Kim Sang Sik expressed his pride in returning with the championship: “First of all, I feel very happy to receive the welcome of the fans. The players tried their best to win the championship and deserve this. Through this tournament, the players have accumulated valuable experiences for the upcoming journey.”

Coach Kim Sang Sik also affirmed that he and the coaching staff will continue to carefully analyze opponents such as Thailand and Indonesia to have the best preparation for the next campaigns, including the 2026 U23 Asian qualifiers and the 33rd SEA Games.
The Korean coach emphasized the need to build a unified tactical system between team levels to facilitate the development and integration of talented young players.
“For U23 Vietnam, the door is always open for them to strive to become part of the national team,” said coach Kim Sang Sik.
This championship marks the third consecutive time that U23 Vietnam has won the Southeast Asian U23 tournament (2022, 2023, 2025) - a proud record, contributing to affirming the leading position of Vietnamese youth football in the region.
According to plan, coach Kim Sang Sik and his team will gather again at the end of August to participate in the 2026 U23 Asian qualifiers.
