According to Israel Nation News , the Israeli National Censorship Authority on October 22nd authorized the release of a photograph showing damage to the home of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's family in the coastal town of Caesarea following a Hezbollah drone attack last weekend.
The photo shows that the explosion cracked the bedroom window, but luckily no one was injured.
On the morning of October 19, three drones, believed to have been launched by Hezbollah from Lebanon, targeted Prime Minister Netanyahu's residence in Caesarea. Prime Minister Netanyahu and his wife, Sara, were not present at the time of the attack.
The Israeli military said a drone launched from Lebanon struck a building in Caesarea, but did not specify which building. Meanwhile, two drones that entered Israeli airspace were intercepted.
According to Axios , this is the first time a target directly linked to Netanyahu has been attacked since Israel's war with Iranian-backed forces in the Middle East broke out late last year.
The Israeli Prime Minister subsequently accused Hezbollah and Iran of being behind the attack, calling it "a bitter mistake."
He said the attack would not stop him from continuing the fight against Hezbollah and Hamas, and that anyone who harms Israelis would pay "a heavy price."
"We will continue to fight. We will bring the hostages in Gaza back, we will bring the people of the North home," he emphasized.
Hezbollah claimed responsibility for the attack today. "The Islamic Resistance claims full and sole responsibility for the Caesarea attack targeting Netanyahu's home," said Mohammad Afif, head of Hezbollah's media relations.
The incident occurred amid escalating tensions between Israel and Hezbollah forces in Lebanon. Since the end of last month, Israel has intensified its campaign of attacks on Hezbollah targets inside Lebanese territory, killing numerous leaders and high-ranking commanders, as well as destroying the group's weapons depots.
Hezbollah announced last week that the war with Israel had entered a new phase. For the first time, the group used precision-guided missiles to target Israel.
Hezbollah announced on October 22nd that it had fired a barrage of rockets at the base of Israel's 8200th Military Intelligence Unit on the outskirts of Tel Aviv and a naval base near the port city of Haifa. Israel confirmed the attack, but said there were no casualties or significant damage.
