A source from the Russian Ministry of Defense said that the UAVs were shot down in a series of areas stretching from the Black Sea to central Russia, showing that the scale and range of Kiev's attacks are rapidly expanding deep into enemy territory.

In a detailed announcement, the Russian Defense Ministry said that 40 UAVs were shot down on the Crimean peninsula, 34 in the Kursk region, 30 in Belgorod, 20 in Nizhny Novgorod and 17 in the Voronezh region - areas that have been frequently targeted by recent Ukrainian UAV attacks.

The wave of UAVs also spread to the Krasnodar, Bryansk, Tula and Ryazan regions, where Russian air defenses claimed to have shot down dozens of airborne targets. Similar interceptions were recorded in Vladimir, Ivanovo, Kaluga, Tambov and Oryol. In the airspace over the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov, Russian forces said they destroyed a total of 67 UAVs, while two others were shot down over Lipetsk and Moscow.

In the Nizhny Novgorod region, debris from a downed UAV fell on a residential area, injuring one resident, according to Governor Gleb Nikitin. He said rescuers were quickly on the scene and the victim was taken to hospital and is in stable condition.

The debris also caused several small fires in private homes, but firefighters quickly brought them under control and prevented them from spreading. Some windows in homes and the roof of a gas station were also damaged by the shock wave from the explosion, according to local authorities.

“ Rescue forces and emergency services have quickly taken action, and measures to repair the damage are being implemented step by step, ” said Governor Gleb Nikitin. He reassured residents, asserting that the situation was under control and asked everyone to follow the instructions of the authorities.

In the Moscow region, Mayor Sergey Sobyanin told media that rescue teams had been dispatched to the area where the UAV debris fell, but that no serious damage or casualties had been reported. He said the air defense system around the capital “worked effectively.”

In recent weeks, Russia has repeatedly reported large-scale drone attacks on its territory, while Ukraine has rarely made official comments. Kiev has said the UAV campaigns are aimed at “undermining the enemy’s military and energy infrastructure.”

Russian military experts say the concentrated attacks deep inside Russia, hundreds of kilometers from the border, indicate that Ukraine has extended the range of its homemade or upgraded attack drones. However, they also emphasize that Russian air defenses have been remarkably effective in stopping these attacks.

Currently, the damage assessment is still being carried out and there are no official figures on material losses. According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, technical and investigation teams are collecting debris, determining the trajectory and area of impact of the attack.

This is considered one of the largest drone attacks that Russia has had to deal with since early autumn, in the context of the Russia-Ukraine conflict continuing to escalate on many fronts, from the Eastern battlefield to the airspace deep inside the two countries' territories.
