Lighting candles to pay tribute to heroic martyrs at Quang Tri Citadel
Currently, caring for war invalids, sick soldiers, families of martyrs, and people with meritorious services has become a regular and responsible task of the entire political system and each citizen. A series of policies have been issued in a comprehensive, synchronous, and consistent manner. Many practical forms of support have been widely deployed such as: Regular subsidies, medical care, priority in education, labor recruitment, housing support, etc., which have contributed to significantly improving the material and spiritual life of people with meritorious services and their relatives. In particular, the construction of thousands of martyr cemeteries, memorial works, and martyr steles across the country has created a large cultural space of gratitude, imbued with humanistic values.
The activities of "repaying gratitude" are increasingly widespread, becoming a competitive movement and a beautiful lifestyle in the community. Union members, youth, students and pupils actively participate in the program "Lighting candles in gratitude". Agencies, units and enterprises strongly respond to the campaign to build houses of gratitude and support Vietnamese Heroic Mothers. Press and media agencies from the central to local levels regularly organize special pages, columns, television programs, real-life reports on the bright examples of war invalids, veterans, and martyrs' families overcoming difficulties to rise up, spreading the will to live, the spirit of patriotism; thereby fostering ideals for the younger generation.
In addition, the digitization of data on people with meritorious services and the development of interactive applications to access martyrs' records and martyrs' cemeteries have contributed to practically improving management efficiency, creating conditions for all people to express their gratitude in a more convenient, modern and effective way. All of these have vividly demonstrated a truth: The morality of "remembering the source of water when drinking" is a strong underground stream flowing in national life, institutionalized into policies, laws and, more importantly, into practical and humane actions.
However, in the context of the information explosion, supported by the internet and social networks, hostile, reactionary forces and political opportunists have distorted the truth and misrepresented the good nature of the gratitude policy. Hostile forces have thoroughly used social networks as an effective tool to spread false information, to create pessimism and skepticism among a segment of the public, especially the youth. At the same time, they have tried to promote an individualistic, pragmatic, and indifferent lifestyle towards history among the youth. Such actions are not only dangerous in terms of ideology, but also pose a potential risk of causing social instability, undermining confidence in the regime and in the future of the nation. Therefore, more than ever, we need to strengthen the "resistance" of society by raising awareness, promptly refuting false arguments, protecting the righteousness and humanity of gratitude activities, contributing to preserving national cultural identity in the period of integration and development.
To strongly spread the morality of "remembering the source of water when drinking" in the new era - the era of breakthrough development, acceleration under the leadership of the Party, successfully building a socialist Vietnam, rich, strong, democratic, fair, civilized, prosperous, happy, it is necessary to synchronously implement many solutions in both awareness and action. All levels and sectors need to continue to promote propaganda and education on traditions in schools, families and society. Integrate and incorporate the content of gratitude to people with meritorious services into subjects, extracurricular activities, training programs, and fostering of cadres, union members and youth. Replicate creative models of using digital technology to tell stories about martyrs, make documentary films, build a database of people with meritorious services, and connect the community to participate in gratitude activities voluntarily and effectively.
Further promote the role of organizations, unions, armed forces, artists, and journalists in promoting and encouraging good examples of people with meritorious services and people who actively participate in acts of gratitude. The Government, ministries, branches, and localities continue to improve and supervise the implementation of preferential policies for people with meritorious services, ensuring that they are correct, sufficient, timely, transparent, and minimize negative issues that arise. Every Vietnamese citizen, especially the young generation, needs to transform the morality of "remembering the source of water when drinking" into concrete actions: Living compassionately, being grateful, dedicating oneself to the community, respecting the past, and striving to build the future. Because, in any circumstance, the morality of "remembering the source when drinking water" is not only a cultural beauty, but also a driving force for the Vietnamese people to unite, rise up, and take control of their own destiny in the new era.
The morality of “drinking water, remembering its source” is the source of the endogenous strength of the Vietnamese people. In the context of the country striving to integrate deeply, this morality needs to be preserved, promoted and spread in new ways, new thinking, and practical actions. July 27 is not only an occasion to remember and show gratitude, but also an opportunity for each Vietnamese person to reflect on themselves, nurture their faith, arouse patriotism and a sense of responsibility towards their homeland and country. That is the best way for the eternal morality of “drinking water, remembering its source” to continue to shine in the journey of building a strong and prosperous country in the era of development.
