
On the morning of October 13, the Department of Dyke Management and Natural Disaster Prevention ( Ministry of Agriculture and Environment ) informed that, updated to 7:00 a.m. the same day, in the North, there were about 12,234 flooded houses, an increase of more than 4,500 houses compared to the previous day, concentrated in Bac Ninh province and Hanoi.
Regarding dike infrastructure, a total of 59 incidents have occurred so far in three localities: Thai Nguyen, Bac Ninh and Hanoi, but all have been initially handled and closely monitored.
The basic traffic system is back online (travel is normal), in which the Hanoi - Thai Nguyen railway line has been restored to operation since the evening of October 12 after an incident occurred in Trung Gia commune (Hanoi) on the afternoon of October 9 (water penetrated the rail track).
Total damage caused by floods after storm No. 11 from localities is estimated at more than 8,720 billion VND, an increase of 1,670 billion VND compared to October 12. Specifically, Lang Son suffered about 1,050 billion VND in damage, Cao Bang 2,000 billion VND, Thai Nguyen 4,000 billion VND and Bac Ninh 1,670 billion VND. Other localities are continuing to review, compile statistics and urgently implement measures to overcome the consequences.
Regarding support work, on October 12, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 2241/QD-TTg allocating an additional 400 billion VND to overcome the consequences of storm No. 11, of which Thai Nguyen was granted 250 billion VND, Cao Bang 50 billion VND, Lang Son 50 billion VND and Bac Ninh 50 billion VND.
Up to now, the Central Relief Mobilization Committee under the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front has received more than 922 billion VND in support for areas damaged by storms No. 10 and 11, and has allocated nearly half to localities.
