Heroic Vietnamese Mother Phung Thi My, from Vinh Phu commune, Phu Tho province, always receives encouragement, attention, and care.
"Drinking water, remember the source," "Eating fruit, remember the tree planter" - these age-old moral principles of our nation are always preserved and promoted by the Party Committee, government, and people of Phu Tho province, especially in the work of showing gratitude and appreciation to the heroic martyrs, wounded soldiers, sick soldiers, and families who have contributed to the revolution. Leading up to the commemoration of the Day of Wounded Soldiers and Martyrs on July 27th, all localities in the province are bustling with acts of kindness, deeply spreading the spirit of gratitude and responsibility towards the older generation who sacrificed for the Fatherland.
The province currently has hundreds of thousands of people who have rendered meritorious services to the revolution, including over 39,000 martyrs, over 27,600 wounded and sick soldiers, tens of thousands of resistance fighters, victims of chemical warfare, and relatives of martyrs... These are testaments to the patriotic spirit and selfless sacrifice for the independence and freedom of the nation. The blood of heroes, martyrs, wounded and sick soldiers has stained every inch of our homeland, contributing to the great victories of our army and people. Therefore, the province always pays special attention to caring for, supporting, and honoring those who have rendered meritorious services.
Over the years, Phu Tho province has fully and promptly implemented preferential policies and regulations for meritorious individuals and families of war invalids and martyrs, as stipulated by law. Many families in difficult circumstances have received livelihood support, free medical examinations and treatment, and preferential loans for production development. Every July 27th, people in various localities organize many practical activities: visiting and giving gifts to policy beneficiaries, lighting candles of gratitude, and offering incense at martyrs' cemeteries... Many charitable organizations, businesses, and individuals actively cooperate with the government in this work, contributing to spreading acts of kindness and social responsibility in the community.
The province regularly launches campaigns to build the "Gratitude and Repayment" Fund, calling for support from businesses, officials, civil servants, and workers to build and repair houses for needy families, and to support students from families entitled to preferential policies. It also strengthens propaganda efforts and resolves outstanding cases related to policies for people with meritorious service; ensuring full and timely payment of preferential benefits such as monthly allowances and health insurance cards.
The restoration and preservation of cemeteries, memorials to heroic martyrs, and revolutionary historical sites in communes, wards, and towns are always given priority. These are not only places of gratitude but also "red addresses" for educating the younger generation about patriotic and revolutionary traditions. Through programs like "Paying Gratitude," "Remembering Our Roots," and traditional talks and historical documentary film screenings at schools, the spirit of patriotism, gratitude, and responsibility towards their ancestors is strongly nurtured and spread among the younger generation.
All Vietnamese Heroic Mothers are cared for and regularly visited and encouraged both materially and spiritually. (In the photo: Vietnamese Heroic Mother Phung Thi My, Vinh Phu commune, Phu Tho province, next to a portrait of her son - martyr Nguyen Cong Tai).
On the occasion of the 78th anniversary of the Day of War Invalids and Martyrs, the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Council, the Provincial People's Committee, and the Provincial Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front organized delegations to visit and present gifts to exemplary policy beneficiary families and pay respects at martyrs' cemeteries in several localities nationwide. Many schools, agencies, and businesses organized practical activities: offering incense in remembrance and gratitude to Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, and providing lifelong support to severely wounded and sick soldiers...
The spirit of gratitude towards those who have contributed to the nation is not just a slogan but has become a beautiful cultural trait deeply ingrained in daily life, demonstrating patriotism and responsibility towards the history and future of the nation. In particular, the younger generation is increasingly demonstrating its pioneering role in preserving and promoting the traditions of the ancestral land, constantly striving to learn, work, and build a prosperous homeland to be worthy of the sacrifices of previous generations.
The Party Committee, government, and people of all ethnic groups in Phu Tho province have identified caring for those who have rendered meritorious service as a regular task and responsibility of the entire political system. Based on this, they continue to strive and join hands with the whole country to better care for the material and spiritual lives of wounded soldiers, sick soldiers, families of martyrs, and those who have rendered meritorious service to the revolution.
