From the morning of January 24th, passenger traffic at bus stations in Hanoi increased significantly. Many bus companies increased the number of trips to serve people from early morning until night, and ticket prices on some long-distance routes increased, with the highest increase being 61% compared to normal days.
Bus fares have increased, mainly on long-distance routes.

According to a survey by PV Giao Thong Newspaper, during the Lunar New Year 2025, most businesses plan to increase bus fares on long-distance routes, with the highest increase being 61%.
Regarding bus fares, Mr. Nguyen Van Lap, Director of Nuoc Ngam Bus Station, said that 46 transport companies at the station have submitted proposals to increase prices, mainly for long-distance routes from Hanoi to southern provinces.
The average increase ranged from 14% (from 350,000 VND to 400,000 VND per bed) to 61% (from 305,000 VND to 490,000 VND per bed).

Apart from the routes mentioned above, most bus companies have maintained their ticket prices, and some, like Van Anh bus company, have even reduced fares by 10% for passengers on all routes from Hanoi to Thanh Hoa. The previous fare was 250,000 VND, now reduced to 230,000 VND.
On the Hanoi - Lao Cai - Sa Pa route, G8 Sapa Open Tour offers a 50% discount on tickets for students.
To serve the public during the peak season, many transport companies have increased the number of trips, and bus stations have mobilized 100% of their staff to work through the night.
Bus companies are increasing the number of trips, and bus stations are operating until late at night to serve passengers.
According to Mr. Lap, the Nuoc Ngam bus station mainly operates in the early morning and at night, therefore, it has little impact on traffic organization outside the bus station.
During the Tet holiday, the bus station arranged sufficient additional vehicles. Thanks to proactive planning and allocation of vehicles to appropriate passenger pick-up points, even with the extra buses, the level of congestion at the bus station was not significant.
Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung, Deputy Director of Van Anh Tourism and Transportation Company Limited, said that from 5 am on January 24th, the company was facilitated by Nuoc Ngam bus station to arrange 10 buses simultaneously to help passengers who needed to return to Thanh Hoa province for Tet.
On January 24th alone, this unit transported goods 200 times, from 5 AM to midnight, and is expected to transport a similar number of goods today (January 25th).
At My Dinh bus station, Mr. Hoa said that on January 24th and expected today (January 25th), bus companies increased the number of buses by 100 per day to meet the high demand from passengers.
On January 24th alone, the number of passengers at the bus station increased by 300% compared to a normal day, from 5,000 passengers to 15,000 passengers. By late yesterday evening, at the end of the last working day, a large number of passengers flocked to the station, and the last bus didn't officially depart until 2 AM on January 25th.
My Dinh Bus Station has mobilized 100% of its staff to be on duty at all locations, ensuring security, order, safety, and providing the best possible support to citizens and businesses.
Meanwhile, at Giap Bat bus station, the number of passengers was lower, reaching only one-third of the expected figure. By 8:30 PM on January 24th, the last buses on the four routes: Thanh Hoa, Nam Dinh, Ninh Binh, and Thai Binh departed the station.
According to Hanoi Bus Station Joint Stock Company, on January 24th, 79 additional buses were deployed at Giap Bat bus station, bringing the total number of operating buses to 833. The number of passengers passing through the station reached 8,729 (a 250% increase compared to a normal day).

In total, all bus stations under the Hanoi Bus Station Joint Stock Company served 25,989 passengers on January 24th (an increase of 284% compared to a normal day).
During peak periods, bus stations have strengthened coordination with local authorities to ensure traffic safety both inside and outside the stations. They have also intensified control and strict inspection of passenger bus operating conditions before departure. To date, there have been no complaints regarding ticket prices or service quality.
Mr. Cao Van Hiep, Deputy Chief of the Traffic Inspection Department of the Hanoi Department of Transport, also stated that during Tet, the density of vehicles at bus stations and on roads increases significantly. To prevent potential traffic safety risks, the traffic inspection force regularly coordinates with bus stations to check the condition of vehicles and drivers before departure.
Regarding the traffic police, Mr. Dao Viet Long, Deputy Head of the Traffic Police Department of Hanoi City Police, added that the traffic police force has proactively implemented peak period plans to ensure traffic safety before, during, and after Tet, with particular attention paid to traffic safety in transportation activities.
In addition to officers stationed at checkpoints to direct and regulate traffic on the roads, Hanoi City Traffic Police also deploy officers to the traffic control command center. This allows them to promptly detect and resolve traffic congestion points, ensuring smooth traffic flow from the beginning to the end of the route.
At the same time, in coordination with press and media agencies, information was disseminated to the public regarding traffic conditions on various routes, recommending suitable alternative routes to avoid congestion points. As a result, despite the increase in vehicle volume, traffic congestion in Hanoi has significantly improved.
