The Vietnamese team had a favorable start in terms of results when defeating the Philippines in the second qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup. Nguyen Van Toan opened the scoring in the first half, while Nguyen Dinh Bac sealed the 2-0 victory in the second half.

The Vietnamese team basically controlled the match well thanks to the superior quality of the players. However, the team still let the opponent create a few dangerous situations.

Besides the positive points, a part of the fans are not satisfied with some factors in the Vietnamese team's lineup.

" The defense made mistakes today, especially Thanh Binh losing the ball. I also think we should push Phan Tuan Tai up to take advantage of the attacking ability ," Trung Duc commented.

" Van Quyet entered the field without leaving any mark. Hopefully he will quickly integrate into the team's playing style ," shared Thanh Kim.

After the match with the Philippines, the Vietnamese team will return to prepare to host Iraq at My Dinh Stadium. This match will take place at 7pm on November 21.
