The Vietnamese team had a favorable start in terms of results when defeating the Philippines in the second qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup. Nguyen Van Toan opened the scoring in the first half, while Nguyen Dinh Bac sealed the 2-0 victory in the second half.

The Vietnamese team basically controlled the match well thanks to the superior quality of the players. However, the team still let the opponent create a few dangerous situations.

After the match with the Philippines, the Vietnamese team will return to prepare to host Iraq at My Dinh Stadium. This match will take place at 7pm on November 21.
