At the European Championships for Veterans in Torun (Poland), Alonso was crowned champion in both the 800m and 1,500m events, setting new historical milestones in the over-90 age group.

In the 800m race, Alonso achieved a time of 3 minutes 34 seconds 22, far surpassing the previous record set by Earl Fee in 2019 (3 ​​minutes 42 seconds 52). On the final day of competition, the 90-year-old athlete continued to shine in the 1,500m event with a time of 7 minutes 00 seconds 81, significantly breaking the previous record held by Radnaa Tseren (7 minutes 55 seconds 12).

Alonso's extraordinary achievements helped him win a double gold medal, contributing to the overall success of the Spanish sports delegation with a total of 121 medals (32 gold, 48 silver, 41 bronze), ranking 4th overall after Germany, Poland, and Great Britain.
