Sharing after winning the title, athlete Hoang Yen could not hide her happiness: “I feel very happy. I really tried my best to win the championship. I hurt my leg during the match but still tried my best to compete. My opponents in the semi-finals and finals all played very well. We tried to cherish every point to surpass them. I feel very happy to win the championship.

Before the tournament, I had only participated in a few small tournaments. This was my first time participating in a professional tournament of such a large scale. Luckily, we won the championship. After winning the championship, I was even more motivated to practice.”

Notably, while the match was going on intensely, athlete Hoang Yen suffered a leg injury but she still tried to continue playing. She shared about her injury: “Just like when playing tennis, I felt leg pain when competing at a high frequency. I tried to force myself to continue playing. I did not want to stop for a medical check because I felt I could overcome it. Moreover, I did not want to lose the momentum of the whole team.

This morning, I played 5 matches but still felt I had enough energy to compete and pass. After the group stage, we had a break of about 15 minutes and had time to recover. The organizers also took good care of the athletes by providing them with enough food and drinks. That gave me more energy.”

Meanwhile, Nguyen Nam, who played very well in this tournament, shared: “This is the first time the two sisters have competed together. I find the level of this tournament quite high. The opponents are all very difficult. I am also very happy to be able to overcome my opponents to win the championship.”

Talking about the opponent in the tournament, athlete Nguyen Nam said: “I think the opponent in the final match was the most difficult for us. They played quite steadily. The turning point of the match was probably when I asked Hoang Yen if she could try. She said she could continue playing. That gave me more spirit.”

Mr. Nguyen Nam talked about his ability to compete professionally after the tournament: “I am busy with work so I haven’t had many opportunities to compete in big tournaments. However, if there is a large-scale tournament like the Dan Tri newspaper tournament, I will try to arrange time to participate.”
