The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) is monitoring 100 young players.

The coaching staff of the Vietnam U23 team said they have a preliminary list of 100 young players to plan their training and development.

The Vietnam U23 team is training in preparation for the CFA Team China – Xi'an 2026 International Football Tournament. Acting head coach Dinh Hong Vinh said the coaching staff has high ambitions regarding the team's strength, goals, and direction for the coming period.

Coach Dinh Hong Vinh shared that the coaching staff of the Vietnam U23 team has also compiled a preliminary list of nearly 100 players to monitor and evaluate. This training camp will be an important basis for further screening and selecting the optimal squad for the team.

At the CFA Team China – Xi'an 2026 tournament, the Vietnam U23 team will have the opportunity to compete against quality opponents including China U23, Thailand U23, and North Korea U23. Acting head coach Dinh Hong Vinh believes this is an ideal environment for the players to gain experience: “We always aim to compete against strong opponents. This is a good opportunity for young players to gain experience, improve, and better prepare for the future.”

Acting head coach Dinh Hong Vinh is currently in charge of the Vietnam U23 team.

Commenting on this training camp, Coach Dinh Hong Vinh said that the squad mainly consists of young players, most of whom haven't had many opportunities to play recently. According to Coach Dinh Hong Vinh, participating in the tournament in Xi'an is an important opportunity for the coaching staff to evaluate, screen, and select players, aiming towards the long-term goals of Vietnamese football, including the key task at the 2026 Asian Games in September.

“Most of the players are very young and have had little playing time in the past year. Through this training camp and the upcoming tournament, we will have a basis to evaluate and select players for long-term goals,” said coach Dinh Hong Vinh.

Vietnamese-American player Moric joins the Vietnam U23 team for training.

This training camp includes Vietnamese-American player Moric. Coach Dinh Hong Vinh stated that this player had been part of our plans and was called up from the U19 team to assess his abilities in the U23 team environment. “Moric is a Vietnamese-American player, already in our plans. However, the level at U23 is higher, so we need more time to evaluate his adaptability. If he meets the professional requirements, he has a good chance of being included in the U23 squad,” Coach Dinh Hong Vinh said.

The coach, who has spent a long time in charge of coaching the national U22 and U23 teams, affirmed that he always maintains an open approach to searching for and adding overseas Vietnamese players as well as new talents to strengthen the depth of the national teams in the future.

Speaking about expectations for new faces, Coach Dinh Hong Vinh emphasized: “The national team will have many training camps in 2026. I believe that through training, improving technical and tactical skills, and gaining international experience, the young players will mature and be ready for future tasks.”

According to the plan, the Vietnam U23 team will maintain regular daily training at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center. The team will depart for China to participate in the tournament on March 23rd.
