| Ms. Ho Thi Lien closely cooperates with border guards in mobilization efforts. |
We learned about the Head of the Village Front Committee of Cu 2 village from Captain Nguyen Van Duc, Deputy Political Officer of the Hong Van Border Gate Border Guard Station (stationed in A Luoi 1 commune). Captain Duc said that Ms. Ho Thi Lien is very energetic and always proactively cooperates with the unit in helping the people, while also propagating and mobilizing people to comply with policies and guidelines, unite and help each other in labor and production, develop the economy, and work together to build their homeland. About two years ago, Ms. Lien "asked" and received support from the Hong Van Border Gate Border Guard Station with 30,000 acacia saplings and assistance with planting. After a review and meeting with the people, these acacia saplings were concentrated to support three families: Mr. Tran Xuan Chuc, Mr. Tran Minh Dung, and Mr. Ho Trong, who are poor and disadvantaged households.
Leading us to visit the lush, healthy acacia plantations covering the hills, Ms. Lien excitedly shared that since receiving support from the border guards in the form of acacia seedlings, assistance with planting, and guidance on care, the families of Mr. Chuc, Mr. Dung, and Mr. Trong have become even more diligent in their agricultural production; they go to the fields from the early morning until late afternoon every day. "Besides corn, cassava, and rice for daily life, the acacia plantation will be a source of accumulated capital after each harvest season, so the villagers are very happy and motivated to strive," Ms. Lien said.
Over the years, in her role as Head of the Fatherland Front Committee, Ms. Lien has coordinated with the village head, the village Party branch secretary, and various organizations to connect with units and benefactors to support livelihood models for poor and disadvantaged households. Encouragingly, the acacia hills have flourished, and flocks of chickens and ducks have thrived, creating additional income and food sources for families. This has motivated many households in the village to learn from and follow suit, leading to increasingly stable and prosperous lives for the villagers.
When Mr. Nguyen Hong Tam's family received 60 million VND in support to build a solidarity house, and with the assistance of officers and soldiers from the Hong Van Border Guard Post, the Head of the Fatherland Front Committee of Ca Cu 2 village mobilized the villagers to join forces with the soldiers and contribute their labor to help build the house for Mr. Tam's family. "Having a spacious and sturdy house, my family feels secure and will work even harder to develop our economy so as not to disappoint the kindness and efforts of the border guards and the villagers," Mr. Tam confided.
Mr. Ho Van Thien and many other residents of Ca Cu 2 village spoke sincerely: They always trust and love the female head of the village's Fatherland Front Committee. Whenever she sees an elderly, lonely, or struggling household, Ms. Lien connects them with border guards, organizations, and philanthropists to help with labor, support livelihood models, and provide gifts. "Watching the villagers, seeing those who received support develop stable and effective economic activities, I feel as happy as if it were my own joy," Ms. Lien said with a simple smile.
The dedicated and responsible front-line official said that the people in this remote border area, despite their difficult lives, have readily donated land and assets to expand and pave many roads in Ca Cu 2 village; they have also readily contributed to the construction of many lighting projects to illuminate the village...
Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Tuan, Political Commissar, and Lieutenant Colonel Ho Van Ha, Commander of Hong Van Border Guard Post, expressed their deep respect for Ms. Ho Thi Lien. “Ms. Lien is very energetic, responsible, and effective in front-line work. Over the years, she has closely coordinated with the unit to successfully complete the task of mobilizing people to implement and comply with policies, laws, and regulations; and to build new rural areas,” said Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Tuan.
