With over 30 years in the military, rising through the ranks and holding various positions, he has always maintained the political integrity of a Party member, the exemplary conduct of an officer, and the approachability of a commander who always prioritizes the unit's mission and the peaceful lives of the people.

But perhaps the most profound impression of the courage and heart of a soldier of Uncle Ho's army, as demonstrated by Major General Ngo Nam Cuong, was during the October days of 2020 when storms and floods relentlessly struck central Vietnam, and the landslide disaster at Rao Trang (Xuan Phong commune, Phong Dien district, Thua Thien Hue province) left the whole country heartbroken.
At that time, as the Commander of the Thua Thien Hue Provincial Military Command, Comrade Ngo Nam Cuong directly led the task force of Military Region 4 to the rescue site. In the pouring rain of the jungle, amidst collapsing mountains and hills, he and his forces advanced deep into the dangerous area to search for and rescue people. While the Military Region 4 task force was resting at Station 67, a massive landslide suddenly occurred. The landslide brought down two concrete walls, crushing Comrade Ngo Nam Cuong. Life and death hung in the balance.

Fortunately, his comrades returned in time to rescue him from the landslide area, but what moved many people the most was not that moment of escape, but his decision the very next day: to return to the scene and continue commanding the search for his missing comrades.
Amidst the grief and witnessing the heroic sacrifice of 13 officers and soldiers in the floods, he did not allow himself to stop. That pain did not deter the commander, but became a reminder to live and fight more worthily and responsibly for the people and for his fallen comrades.

In the live television program "Tears of Rao Trang" on Vietnam Television, the heartfelt words of the comrade moved millions of viewers to tears. These were not just the words of someone fortunate enough to survive a natural disaster, but the voice of a soldier speaking about his comrades, about camaraderie, and about his duty to the people.
During his time as Deputy Commander of Military Region 4, Major General Ngo Nam Cuong continued to work with the Party Committee and the Command of Military Region 4 to effectively plan and implement local military and national defense tasks; build increasingly solid defense zones; improve the quality of training and combat readiness; and consolidate the militia, self-defense forces, and widespread reserve mobilization forces. These results are not only reflected in reports or figures, but also in the stability and peace in the region, and in the people's trust in the armed forces.

Every season of natural disasters, storms, floods, landslides, forest fires, or the Covid-19 pandemic, people see the image of that commander present on the front lines, directly inspecting, directing, encouraging forces, and visiting the people. He is decisive in his work, but sincere in his conduct; strict in his duties, but rich in compassion for the people.
In addition, he encouraged the forces to implement response plans and visit the people, while also mobilizing and calling on comrades, officers, and soldiers to donate gifts and supplies to help the people overcome the consequences of the natural disaster and have a more fulfilling Tet holiday. These quiet acts created a simple yet profound image of "Uncle Ho's soldiers" in everyday life.
Within the unit, Comrade Ngo Nam Cuong emphasized discipline, upheld leadership principles, and simultaneously cared for the well-being of officers and soldiers; building an environment of unity and solidarity. The exemplary leadership of the head of the unit is the foundation for the armed forces to successfully complete all assigned tasks...
