(QBĐT) - Although it has only been established for 2 years, the Quang Binh Police Live Blood Bank Club has participated in more than 40 emergency blood donations, promptly helping more than 30 patients being treated at hospitals and medical centers in the province and donating nearly 1,000 units of blood to save lives.
Based on practical needs, especially in hospitals and medical facilities lacking blood for emergency and medical treatment, at the end of 2022, the Provincial Police Youth Union (now the Youth Committee) proposed to establish the Quang Binh Police "Live Blood Bank" Club (called "CAQB Live Blood Bank"). Since its establishment, the "CAQB Live Blood Bank" Club has become a trusted address and a "companion" of the Department of Biochemistry - Hematology - Blood Transfusion, Vietnam - Cuba Dong Hoi Friendship Hospital (BVHNVN-CBĐH).
With the advantage of having a large force of over 2,000 union members and youths, and the enthusiasm and guaranteed blood source of youth, the Club is always ready to "Serve beloved comrades and the people". In particular, the Club has mobilized a number of officers and soldiers to join in helping and providing emergency support to patients with rare blood types or obstetric patients in critical need of large amounts of blood.

The Executive Board (EC) of the “CAQB Live Blood Bank” Club is the bridge, calling for and gathering members to take action according to the motto “when needed, there is, always ready” from the messages posted on the social network group, such as: “Currently, there is an emergency patient at the Hanoi-HCMC Hospital in urgent need of blood type A+, please share and donate blood. Anyone who can participate, please contact…”; “Currently, a patient with HMĐ., Van Trach, Bo Trach, blood type B, born in 1950, with a traumatic brain injury is undergoing surgery, there is currently a shortage of blood type B, so please see who can donate…”, “PXT patient needs blood type AB-emergency department of Hanoi-HCMC Hospital, phone number of family member…”.
The information was then shared with the secretaries of the Youth Union branches in the Provincial Police to spread and mobilize the Youth Union force to participate in blood donation. The information was then responded to very urgently and promptly, such as: "The Youth Union of the Criminal Techniques Department has 2 comrades donating blood at the Vietnam National Hospital of Blood Transfusion", "The Youth Union of the Traffic Police Department has two "blood donors" coming to donate blood"...
Captain Duong Quoc Khanh, Head of the Provincial Police Youth Union, Chairman of the Club, said that in order to receive the attention and response of the Youth Union, the Executive Committee and the Club members always focus on propaganda work with many different ways. In particular, focusing on visual propaganda, for example, such as: Before organizing a concentrated blood donation program by building an infographic providing the most basic information about blood, voluntary blood donation, time, and location of the organization, posting it on the fanpage and sharing it widely on personal Facebook and Zalo pages so that officers, police and people understand and enthusiastically respond.
| In recent years, the work of blood donation on an ad hoc basis as well as regular blood donation has brought the total blood units of the Provincial Police Department many times higher than the target assigned by the Provincial Voluntary Blood Donation Steering Committee every year. From December 2022 to March 2024, the "Living Blood Bank" Club of the Provincial Police Department donated nearly 1,000 units of blood, of which the Youth Union members of the Police Department's grassroots unions in districts, towns and cities participated in donating more than 320 units of blood. |
Regarding the operating mechanism, members are encouraged to participate when there is information from hospitals and medical facilities. Based on the blood type and nature of the case, the Club will inform and coordinate members to participate in blood donation. The Executive Committee assigns permanent members to participate in the Club under the Provincial Red Cross Society and the Provincial Voluntary Blood Donation Club to receive instructions from the Provincial Red Cross Society. To operate more effectively, the Executive Committee of the "CAQB Live Blood Bank" Club has combined communication work with the work of receiving information about patients needing blood in emergency cases at associations and groups on social networks, quickly contacting, verifying information and implementing blood donation to save lives.
Most recently, after receiving information that comrade Le Na from the Inspectorate Department, the Provincial Police was in urgent need of blood at the hospital, in a short time, 5 Youth Union members from the Criminal Techniques Department, the Administrative Police Department for Social Order and the Traffic Police Department promptly arrived. After receiving 7 units of blood from volunteers of the "CAQB Live Blood Bank", Ms. Le Na's health soon stabilized.
Or the case of Senior Lieutenant Nguyen Huy Hoang, Secretary of the Minh Hoa District Police Youth Union, received information that a patient was in critical condition and urgently needed blood type BRh+. Hoang quickly went to the Department of Biochemistry-Hematology-Blood Transfusion, BVHNVN-CBĐH to donate blood and save the life...
The response, active and humane activities of the "CAQB Live Blood Bank" Club have helped many patients to be reborn, thereby spreading love in the community, bringing happiness to those who receive blood and to those who donate blood. Thereby, contributing to building a beautiful image of police officers and soldiers in the hearts of the people, worthy of the Club's motto and purpose "Red blood drops for beloved comrades - Serving the people".
