Along with some of the opinions mentioned above, some argue that humans should not eat meat based on evolutionary and biological perspectives.

People should eat a full and balanced diet of both animal and plant-based foods.

According to the Institute of Applied Medicine (Vietnam Medical Association), in reality, many people choose a vegan diet for health reasons. Others choose it for ethical reasons, hoping to avoid cruelty to animals and consume more sustainable food. Of course, this is a personal choice and perspective.

Choosing a particular food consumption style should involve considering the benefits and risks to the body, so that those methods are suitable and bring many positive health benefits.

Eat a balanced diet including both animal and plant-based foods.

Regarding the role of animal-derived foods in health, modern nutritional science has shown that animal-derived foods provide certain essential nutrients that plant-derived foods either lack, contain only in very low amounts, or are difficult to absorb during digestion. This is why people should eat a complete and balanced diet, including both animal and plant-derived foods.

For example, vitamin B12 is an essential nutrient that the body cannot obtain from plant-based foods alone. Vitamin B12 is crucial for the normal functioning of the nervous system and the formation of red blood cells. This is why vegetarians should supplement their vitamin B12 intake.

Alternatively, vegetarians may not be getting enough iron in their daily diet, as plant-based foods provide only a small amount of iron, and iron absorption from plant-based foods is much lower than that from animal-based foods. Iron deficiency significantly impacts overall health, especially in women, particularly pregnant women.

According to the Vietnam Institute of Applied Medicine, based on evidence from global studies, the answer to the question "Should humans eat meat?" from a health and nutritional perspective is "yes".

Scientific evidence and studies conducted over the years worldwide have proven that humans are "designed" to eat both animal and plant-based foods.

Foods of animal origin contain many important nutrients that are essential for the human body, which are not found in foods of plant origin; and vice versa.

Especially for the development of young children, many important nutrients in animal-based foods are difficult to replace with a plant-based diet, even with supplementation from medications and supplements. Therefore, this group should be prioritized in a diet that ensures a balanced intake of both animal and plant-based nutrients.
