The People's Committee of Quang Ninh province has just issued plan No. 229/KH-UBND to implement periodic health check-ups and free screening for people in Quang Ninh province in 2026.
It is expected that over 1.4 million people will receive free routine health check-ups and screenings, including: students attending schools in the province, children; people aged 18 to 60 and people aged 60 and above.
Of these, over 500,000 belong to priority groups (people with disabilities, war veterans, people with chronic diseases, etc.).
The implementation in 2026 will be divided into two phases. Phase 1 from May 25th to June 30th and Phase 2 from July 1st to November 15th at health stations, health centers, schools, cultural centers, sports arenas, etc. (depending on the actual situation of each locality and the guidance of the Department of Health, in accordance with current regulations); at regional general hospitals, specialized hospitals, etc.
The plan aims to ensure that 100% of the target groups under management are listed, monitored, and provided with regular health check-ups or screenings at least once a year, in accordance with the government 's roadmap.
100% of communes, wards, and special zones have implemented the organization of periodic health check-ups or screenings for residents in their areas.
The goal is to ensure that 100% of citizens' electronic health records are fully updated, conform to the correct format, and are connected to the healthcare management information system at the grassroots level.
100% of health check-up results are linked to the health check-up database, the information system for managing medical examination and treatment activities, the national health database, and the data receiving portal of the health insurance claims information system.
Ensure the consistent creation of integrated electronic health records within the VNeID application.
Through this, we ensure that people in Quang Ninh province receive free periodic health check-ups, screenings, or health examinations at least once a year according to a suitable schedule.
Early detection and management of diseases are crucial for proactive prevention and timely treatment, reducing morbidity, mortality, and the burden of healthcare costs for the population; building and perfecting a unified electronic health database across the province, seamlessly connecting with the national health database;
Enhancing the capacity for managing public health throughout the life cycle, ensuring that all citizens have access to comprehensive, continuous, equitable, convenient, and quality healthcare services starting from the primary healthcare level, contributing to improved physical health and life expectancy, and meeting the sustainable development requirements of the province.
Previously, on May 15, 2026, the Government issued Decree 165/2026/ND-CP guiding the Law on Disease Prevention, which stipulates a roadmap for prioritizing free periodic health check-ups starting from July 1, 2026.
Quang Ninh province has demonstrated this spirit early on, being one of the leading localities in implementing free periodic health check-ups and screenings for its people, gradually realizing the goal of comprehensive, continuous, and lifelong healthcare for its citizens. This not only improves the quality of life but also creates a solid foundation for rapid and sustainable development in the new era.
