The results were determined using Cirium's EmeraldSky methodology, which utilizes the CO₂/ASK (Available Seat Kilometer) index – a standard measure reflecting the amount of CO₂ emissions per seat provided per kilometer flown.

Vietjet's fleet of next-generation aircraft is a crucial foundation for maintaining low emissions.
According to the report, Vietjet has an emission level of 64.5 grams of CO₂/ASK, lower than Singapore Airlines (66.7 grams) and Lion Air (67.1 grams) in the same ranking within the Southeast Asian region.
The ranking compares emission levels on flights conducted entirely within Southeast Asia, where the specific characteristics of short and medium-haul routes make fuel optimization more challenging. Under similar operating conditions, Vietjet's maintenance of the lowest emissions demonstrates the airline's ability to optimize operations throughout its entire operational chain, from aircraft configuration and flight network organization to payload management.
A new generation fleet is a crucial foundation for Vietjet to maintain low emissions. The airline currently operates primarily Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft, including "NEO" versions that save approximately 15-20% on fuel compared to the previous generation.
With one of the youngest average fleet ages in the region, Vietjet significantly optimizes fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions per flight. Alongside fleet investment, the airline also promotes the application of technology in operations, from flight data analytics platforms like SkyBreathe to fuel optimization partnerships like SFCO₂, thereby improving operational efficiency across the entire system.
Previously, Vietjet was recognized by AirlineRatings as one of the top 7 sustainable airlines globally in 2025 for its outstanding efforts in reducing emissions, using fuel efficiently, and developing green aviation. The airline was also recognized for its ESG (environment, social, and governance) achievements in markets such as Taiwan (China).
