Vietnam is rising to regional leadership.

In an article in the Bangkok Post, Thai scholar Kavi Chongkittavorn commented on General Secretary To Lam's recent visit to South Korea, affirming that Vietnam is rising to a regional leadership position.

According to VNA, expert Chongkittavorn highly appreciated Vietnam's choice of Korea as a destination for the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, enhancing trade, investment and diplomatic cooperation. As the first country to send a high-ranking leader to meet with new President Lee Jae Myung, Vietnam sent a clear signal that Vietnam and Korea are emerging as a driving force for regional connectivity and economic growth.

Scholar Chongkittavorn said that at this time, Vietnam is asserting its position as a regional leader. This year, Vietnam celebrates the 30th anniversary of its accession to ASEAN, the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2. Three decades ago, when joining ASEAN, few people believed that Vietnam could integrate and develop strongly within the challenging framework of the bloc. According to Mr. Chongkittavorn, Vietnam has always focused on peace and stability; supporting ASEAN-led mechanisms. These foundations allow Vietnam to consolidate strategic peace while integrating into the global value chain.

Foreign investors, especially in the high-tech and green sectors, are looking to Vietnam as a top destination for transparent and effective reforms. At the strategic level, Chongkittavorn said, Vietnam and South Korea are working closely together. Vietnam provides a dynamic manufacturing base and a young workforce, while South Korea contributes capital, expertise and innovation. This rare partnership is a model for many countries to follow, Chongkittavorn stressed.
