Vietnam National Administration of Tourism inspects compliance with legal regulations in the field of tourist accommodation in Thanh Hoa and Nghe An

Implementing Plan No. 2045/KH-BVHTTDL dated May 9, 2025, from August 19 to 20, Director Nguyen Trung Khanh led a delegation of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism to work with tourism management agencies and a number of tourist accommodation establishments in Thanh Hoa and Nghe An provinces to inspect compliance with legal regulations and ensure the quality of tourist accommodation establishments. Also attending were leaders and officers of the Tourism Accommodation Department, representatives of the Legal Department (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism).

According to the working program, the delegation worked with the Departments of Culture, Sports and Tourism (VHTTDL) of Nghe An and Thanh Hoa on tourism accommodation activities in the area; inspected and evaluated the current status of tourism accommodation establishments in terms of maintenance and repair of technical facilities, labor force, environmental sanitation, fire prevention and fighting, security and order in accordance with the provisions of law on appraisal and recognition of tourism accommodation establishments, review and inspection of tourism accommodation business conditions, especially the issue of ensuring security and safety for tourists, etc.

In addition, the working group of the Vietnam National Tourism Administration inspected and evaluated the operational status of tourist accommodation establishments at a number of 1-5 star accommodation establishments in the two provinces.

According to the report of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Nghe An, as of July 31, 2025, the whole province has 960 accommodation establishments with more than 23,029 rooms, including 04 5-star hotels, 11 4-star hotels, 28 3-star hotels, 16 1-2-star hotels in operation. Regarding the results of appraisal and recognition of tourist accommodation establishments, in 2025, 03 hotels were appraised for star rating (re-issued), including: 02 2-star hotels, 01 3-star hotel.

To improve the quality of accommodation service business activities, in 2024 and the first 7 months of 2025, the Department organized training courses on ensuring food hygiene and safety in tourism business activities, fostering professional skills and service skills in accommodation establishments and other tourism service businesses in the province; Organized a dialogue conference and discussed solutions to promote tourism growth in Nghe An province in 2025 to remove difficulties and obstacles for tourism businesses in the province; Inspected the quality of accommodation establishments in the province. During the inspection of accommodation establishments in Nghe An, the working group acknowledged and highly appreciated the efforts in management, and at the same time requested the locality to continue to strengthen destination management, especially during major holidays; focus on training and retraining human resources to meet increasing demands. The working group emphasized the role of coordination between the Department, the Tourism Association and the participation of workers, businesses, and schools, in which it is necessary to increase exchanges so that businesses can better understand their rights and responsibilities when participating in human resource training. In addition, the province needs to develop a thematic inspection plan, focusing on hot spots before the peak tourist season; promote the application of information technology, digital transformation, and communication and promotion on social networking platforms. At the same time, research and promulgate mechanisms and policies to attract investment, support development, and form large-scale tourism areas, spots, and products, contributing to improving the competitiveness of Nghe An tourism.

Inspection delegation works with Thanh Hoa Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism

Regarding Thanh Hoa, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism reported that as of August 2025, the province has about 1,300 accommodation establishments with about 48,600 rooms, including 92 hotels rated 1-5 stars (23 1-star hotels, 35 2-star hotels, 24 3-star hotels, 7 4-star hotels and 3 5-star hotels); 195 houses with rooms for tourists to rent (homestay) with a capacity of over 8,000 people; 235 condotels with about 1,600 rooms and about 800 villas and townhouses for tourists to rent with about 4,500 rooms.

In recent times, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thanh Hoa has regularly updated, disseminated and guided legal documents related to accommodation service business activities; issued documents directing and correcting the implementation of legal provisions and maintaining and ensuring service quality for tourism accommodation establishments in the province, contributing to improving the effectiveness and efficiency of state management of tourism accommodation activities. Every year, the Department has directed the Department Inspectorate and the Tourism Management Department to coordinate with the People's Committees of districts, towns and cities (now communes and wards) to conduct inspections and checks to ensure conditions for welcoming and serving tourists at tourist areas, tourist attractions and accommodation service establishments in the province, especially before holidays and peak seasons. Organize professional training, dialogue to remove difficulties for businesses, and check the quality of accommodation establishments.

Delegation inspects accommodation facilities in Thanh Hoa

During the working program in Thanh Hoa, the delegation requested the province to pay attention to advising on state management policies to support businesses in sustainable development. The locality needs to focus on developing new tourism products, while promoting and advertising the image of the destination. The Vietnam National Administration of Tourism affirmed that it will accompany and support the locality in communication work, especially on the website and social networks of the Department. The delegation also emphasized the importance of digital transformation in the tourism sector, considering it an inevitable trend to help improve the efficiency of management, business and promotion. Regarding human resource training, there needs to be synchronous coordination between businesses, tourism associations and state management agencies; in which, the Department will work with the province to organize training programs suitable to reality. In addition, destination management, especially during peak tourist season, needs to be strengthened, combined with ensuring fire prevention and fighting, security and order, and resolutely inspecting and handling violations.
