Vietnam ranked 6th in the WIN World AI Index 2025 with 59.2 points, among the top 10 countries in the world in terms of readiness and application of artificial intelligence.
China leads the ranking with 70.4 points, followed by India (69.1 points), Mexico (62 points), Malaysia (61.3 points) and Hong Kong (China) (59.6 points). Vietnam surpasses many neighboring countries such as Thailand and Indonesia.
The index is calculated based on 7 criteria including frequency of use, trust level, efficiency, interest, comfort, ease of use and acceptance of AI.
Accordingly, Vietnam has the highest score in the "AI Trust" index with 65.6 points, ranking 3rd in the world. This shows that Vietnamese people have great faith in the ability and reliability of AI applications.
Vietnam also scored 71.6 points in the "AI Acceptance" index, ranking 5th globally. This index reflects the positive attitude of Vietnamese people towards AI becoming a part of modern life.
Regarding the "Interest in AI" index, Vietnam scored 62 points, ranking 7th in the world.
With the "Comfort with AI" index, Vietnam scored 49.3 points, ranking 8th in the world but still lower than other indicators.
However, the report also pointed out that Vietnam still has limitations in using AI in practice. Vietnam's "Usage of AI" index only reached 37.3 points, lower than the global average of 38.8 points. This is the gap between positive awareness and practical action that Vietnam needs to shorten.
The study, conducted by the Global Independent Market Research Network (WIN) from December 2024 to March 2025, surveyed more than 32,000 people from 38 countries. Accordingly, the global average AI index reached 51.6 points on a scale of 100.
The Asia- Pacific region leads the way in AI adoption, while Europe is more cautious. Young people are the main driver of AI adoption, with 23% of 18-34 year olds using AI regularly, compared to just 7% of those over 55.
The report emphasizes that AI is not just a tool but also a behavioral change worth studying. Policymakers need to understand public attitudes towards this technology.
