During the visit and working session in the Netherlands, on September 17, 2024, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Hang worked with Prince Jaime de Bourbon de Parme, Special Envoy of the Netherlands on Climate Change, Mr. Steven Collet, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs in charge of the Partnership for Green Growth and the Sustainable Development Goals SDGs (P4G Forum), Ms. Meike van Ginneken, Special Envoy of the Netherlands on Water Resources.

During the meetings, both sides expressed their joy at the positive development of the Vietnam-Netherlands Comprehensive Partnership in recent times. Prince Jaime de Bourbon de Parme sent his condolences to the country and people of Vietnam for the great losses caused by Typhoon Yagi .
Affirming that the Netherlands is the largest investor and leading trade partner of the EU in Vietnam, Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Hang emphasized that 2024 is of great significance to the relationship between the two countries, marking the 5th anniversary of the implementation of the Comprehensive Partnership framework (2019 - 2024), the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Strategic Partnership on sustainable agriculture and food security (2014 - 2024) and towards the 15th anniversary of the establishment of the Strategic Partnership on climate change adaptation and water management (2010 - 2025). In the context of increasingly complex climate change, Vietnam is one of the countries most severely affected by climate change, typically the Yagi storm with floods and landslides has caused huge losses of people and property in many localities of Vietnam. Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Hang proposed that the Netherlands continue to support Vietnam in improving its capacity to respond to climate change, forecast and prevent flash floods and landslides, sustainably manage water resources, develop green and smart agriculture, energy transition, and green transformation.
Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Hang also thanked the Netherlands, as one of the three key partners of the P4G Forum, for actively supporting Vietnam in hosting the fourth P4G Summit in 2025, and asked the Netherlands to continue to support and closely coordinate with Vietnam in the preparation and organization of this important Conference.

Dutch partners agreed to step up cooperation with Vietnam in the field of climate change, effectively implementing the results of the 8th session of the Intergovernmental Committee on Climate Change and Water Management in the Netherlands in June 2023. Assistant Secretary of State Steven Collet said that Dutch businesses are currently very interested in the Vietnamese market, planning to expand investment and business in Vietnam; suggested that the two sides strengthen cooperation in new areas such as high technology, semiconductor chips, renewable energy, facilitating the exchange of business delegations between the two countries.
The Dutch Special Envoy on Climate Change congratulated Vietnam on assuming the role of Chair of the 4th P4G Summit, thereby affirming Vietnam's efforts and responsible contributions in addressing current urgent global issues. The Netherlands supports Vietnam's preparation and organization plan, and will closely coordinate with key members and the P4G Secretariat to actively support Vietnam in successfully organizing the Summit, contributing to promoting global efforts on green growth, responding to climate change, and implementing the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)./.
