Vietnam - US narrow gap in all areas of reciprocal trade negotiations

On the afternoon of June 19, within the framework of the regular press conference of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pham Thu Hang informed about bilateral negotiations on reciprocal trade between Vietnam and the United States.

Responding to reporters' questions about the third round of negotiations on the bilateral reciprocal trade agreement between Vietnam and the United States held in Washington DC from June 9 to 12, the Foreign Ministry Spokesperson said that during the four days of negotiations, the Vietnamese and US negotiating delegations made much progress and narrowed the gap in all areas of negotiation.

According to the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs , at the negotiation sessions, the United States highly appreciated Vietnam's goodwill and efforts, affirmed and valued the relationship with Vietnam, acknowledged Vietnam's proposals and concerns, and considered this an important basis for the two sides to continue discussing and promoting reaching an agreement between the two countries.

"The Vietnamese negotiating delegation affirmed its determination to build a balanced and sustainable economic and trade relationship with the United States for the benefit of the people and businesses of both countries. The Vietnamese and US negotiating delegations agreed to continue technical exchanges and soon reach an agreement that meets the expectations and conditions of both sides," the Foreign Ministry spokesperson emphasized.

Updating information on Vietnam becoming a partner country of the BRICS Group of Emerging Economies (BRICS), Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pham Thu Hang said that Vietnam - as a partner - is ready to join BRICS member countries and the international community, promote cooperation and mobilize resources to promote priority issues of developing countries today such as trade, investment, infrastructure connectivity, taking advantage of scientific and technological advances for development, people-to-people exchange, contributing to the implementation of sustainable development goals and responding to common global challenges.

"Vietnam is also ready to coordinate and connect the above-mentioned cooperation programs of the BRICS group with relevant multilateral mechanisms, thereby contributing to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region as well as in the world," the Foreign Ministry Spokesperson affirmed.
