Within the framework of his official visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran, on the afternoon of August 9 (local time), National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue visited and delivered an important speech on the theme "Vietnam - Iran cooperation for peace and development" at the Iranian Institute of Political Studies and International Relations (IPIS), Tehran.

Working together to strengthen the 4 connections
Looking towards a peaceful and developed future with a vision for the next 50 years between the two countries, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue suggested that the two sides join hands to strengthen four connections.
Regarding the connection of dialogue and cooperation mechanisms, the National Assembly Chairman hopes that the exchange of delegations at all levels, especially at high levels; the effective promotion of parliamentary cooperation mechanisms, the Intergovernmental Committee, political consultation between the two Foreign Ministries and other existing mechanisms need to be maintained regularly. The two sides will review and promote the negotiation and signing of cooperation agreements and arrangements in all fields. In particular, parliamentary cooperation plays an important role, especially in perfecting a favorable legal framework for the cooperation process.
Regarding digital connectivity, science - technology and transportation, the National Assembly Chairman stated that digital connectivity and science - technology can erase geographical barriers, bringing high added value to cooperation between the two countries in areas such as telecommunications; information technology; digital transformation; new technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing, nanotechnology to together open the door to the future.
Regarding trade and investment connectivity, the National Assembly Chairman hopes that the governments of the two countries need to create conditions for goods and services to penetrate each other's markets, and encourage localities and businesses of the two countries to strengthen trade and investment connectivity.
Regarding People-to-People Connection, according to the National Assembly Chairman, tourism and education are two important bridges that help strengthen the friendship between the people and young generations of the two countries. Hopefully, educational cooperation will foster a common future for the two countries.
Unity creates collective strength
Discussing and answering questions from Iranian scholars and researchers, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue said that the trend of peace and cooperation for development is still the dominant trend now as well as in the future. No matter how the world changes, the constant thing for each country is self-reliance; friendly countries must strengthen solidarity, create collective strength to be able to cope with risks and challenges from the outside. Vietnam implements a policy of multilateralization and diversification of diplomacy, ready to be a friend and reliable partner of all countries in the world for peace, friendship, cooperation and development.
On this occasion, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue witnessed the signing ceremony of the Agreement on Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters between the Supreme People's Procuracy of Vietnam and the Ministry of Justice of Iran; the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Field of Sports between the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam and the Ministry of Sports and Youth of Iran; the Cooperation Agreement between the National Standards Organization of Iran and the Vietnam Agency for Standards, Metrology and Quality; the Cooperation Agreement between the Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency (Ministry of Industry and Trade) and the Iran Trade Promotion Agency, etc.

On the afternoon and evening of August 9, in the capital Tehran, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue cut the ribbon to inaugurate an exhibition of books, newspapers, and photos on Vietnam-Iran bilateral relations; and attended the opening ceremony of the Vietnam Cultural Week in Iran on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Iran diplomatic relations (1973-2023).
