Discussing the visit of General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping and his wife to Vietnam, Mr. Nguyen Van Tho, former Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs , former Vietnamese Ambassador to China, and Vice Chairman of the Vietnam-China Friendship Association, said that the visit will create a new milestone and a new impetus to further deepen the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between Vietnam and China in all fields.

Promoting cooperative projects that benefit both sides.

According to Mr. Tho, it is expected that during President Xi Jinping's visit, the leaders of the two countries will sign many cooperation documents in various fields. This will open a new chapter in the cooperative relationship between Vietnam and China. Mr. Tho analyzed that the Vietnam-China relationship over the past 70 years has had its ups and downs, but the main current has always been friendship and cooperation. This is because friendly and cooperative relations are in line with the fundamental interests of the people of both countries, as well as the general trend of the world and the times: peace, cooperation, and development. During President Xi Jinping's visit, the high-level leaders of the two countries will discuss and reach agreements and common understandings, guiding the future of the Vietnam-China relationship in all aspects. " Political trust will be higher, cooperation will be more effective and substantive, and the social foundation for friendly relations between Vietnam and China will be expanded. The two sides also plan to issue a joint communiqué on a shared future between Vietnam and China. That future is one of peace, cooperation, and prosperous development, providing a basis for both sides to promote economic, trade, investment, tourism, cultural, and people-to-people exchanges," Mr. Tho said. Regarding promoting specific cooperation, Mr. Nguyen Van Tho also stated that during Mr. Xi Jinping's visit, the two sides will promote the connection between the Vietnam-China "Two Corridors, One Belt" Framework and the "Belt and Road" Initiative. According to the former Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, effective cooperation will best serve the interests of the people of both Vietnam and China. The key is to promote cooperation projects that benefit both sides. "That is also the aspiration of the Party, the State, and the people of both Vietnam and China," Mr. Tho added.

"The opportunities outweigh the challenges."

Speaking to the press, Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam Xiong Ba said that during the visit of General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping to Vietnam, high-level leaders from both sides will engage in in-depth discussions on a range of important issues, such as further deepening cooperation in politics, security, economics , trade, and people-to-people exchanges; as well as strengthening coordination and cooperation in multilateral forums. The two sides will sign dozens of important cooperation documents in various fields, from Party-to-Party cooperation, national security and defense, cooperation between agencies and localities, justice, strategic development connectivity, economic and trade relations, investment, digital economy, green development, agricultural product import and export, irrigation, and maritime cooperation. Ambassador Xiong Ba also acknowledged that in the relationship between Vietnam and China, "opportunities outweigh challenges." "The main opportunity lies in the continuously strengthening and deepening political trust between the two sides, and the ever-expanding and upgrading of cooperation in various fields. It can be said that strengthening cooperation in areas where we have advantages is a matter of favorable timing, geographical location, and human resources," Mr. Hung Ba emphasized. Ambassador Hung Ba also stated that the two sides will promote the connection of development strategies, accelerating the connection of the Vietnam-China "Two Corridors, One Belt" Framework with the "Belt and Road" Initiative. At the same time, the two countries need to strengthen connectivity and interoperability via land, sea, air, and the internet. "I believe the top priority and most important thing is that we need to expand and strengthen interoperability and cooperation in the field of transportation infrastructure , especially hard infrastructure, such as railways and expressways," Mr. Hung Ba said.
