On the morning of September 23, in Da Nang City, Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung received Mr. Sun Yeli, Director of the State Council Information Office of China.

At the reception, Minister Nguyen Manh Hung thanked the Chinese delegation for attending the AMRI 16 conference, as well as taking the time for the two sides to have a working session. The Minister said that the success of this 16th AMRI conference had great contributions from dialogue countries China, Japan and Korea.

According to the Minister, China is a great friend of Vietnam and looks forward to hearing their views on the issue digital technology, especially information management in cyberspace and cross-border platforms.

Mr. Sun Yeli said he was very happy to meet Minister Nguyen Manh Hung, and thanked Vietnam for the enthusiastic welcome.

“Attending this conference, I also met a number of ministers from other countries and realized the importance of media to the country's development, especially at a time when technology is developing. I know that Vietnam also has a unit implementing cyberspace management and so does China. I hope that based on those foundations, in the coming time the two countries will cooperate and discuss more on this issue," Mr. Sun Yeli shared.

At the same time, Mr. Sun Yeli hopes that the two countries will soon promote the signing of a new memorandum of understanding on friendly exchange and cooperation in the field of press information and foreign information.

In recent times, in the field of information and communication, Vietnam and China have not cooperated much, not commensurate with the scope of the relationship between the two countries. Ministry of Information and Communications of Vietnam is managing two areas, including post and telecommunications, digital technology and press and television. In the field of press information, the two countries once had a memorandum of understanding.

In November 11, leaders of the Ministry of Information and Communications will visit China. Minister Nguyen Manh Hung proposed that during that visit the two countries would sign a memorandum of understanding on media cooperation exchange, creating a basis for implementing more cooperative activities in the future.

In addition, agencies of the Ministry of Information and Communications of Vietnam and the State Council Information Office of China will create a 2-year cooperation program that can be signed in November 11. From this cooperation program, the two countries will will discuss specific tasks.

In response to Minister Nguyen Manh Hung's proposals, Mr. Sun Yeli agreed and said that the two sides will complete a cooperation memorandum to sign in November 11. From there, it serves as a basis for making detailed plans to promote cooperation in the field of information and communications.
