On May 22nd, the 8th Vietnam Security Summit officially took place in Hanoi . The event was organized by the Vietnam National Cyber Security Association in collaboration with IEC Group. As one of the largest cybersecurity forums in Vietnam, this year's event brought together over 1,500 high-level delegates, including leaders from central and local government agencies, representatives from businesses and organizations operating in the field of information security, and leading technology experts from Vietnam and internationally.

With the theme of protecting the digital future in the post-quantum and artificial intelligence (AI) era, the conference focused on discussing the impact of AI on business operations, automation, and cybersecurity. Besides opportunities for improved efficiency, AI also increases risks such as sophisticated attacks, identity spoofing, and data threats. In light of this trend, organizations are advised to proactively develop new defense strategies to prepare for the post-quantum cryptography era.
According to Synology's "Digital Transformation in Southeast Asia 2025" survey, over 55% of businesses in Southeast Asia have experienced ransomware attacks or other cyberattacks in recent years, reflecting the prevalence and persistence of this risk to business operations.
In Vietnam, the Foresiet Vietnam Cybersecurity Report 2025 records approximately 552,000 cyberattacks in 2025. Around 52.30% of organizations and businesses reported having suffered losses from these attacks.
Participating in the event themed “Protecting Critical Digital Infrastructure – The Security Pillar of the Digital Economy ,” representatives from Synology Vietnam, along with experts, focused on in-depth discussions about strategies for identifying and eliminating security blind spots and building sustainable data infrastructure. From Synology's perspective, as one of the leading providers of data storage and protection solutions at the Vietnam Security Summit 2026, data protection is now not just about backup, but also about the ability to recover when incidents occur.
“ In the context of businesses accelerating digital transformation while simultaneously facing increasingly sophisticated cyberattacks, we aim to provide a more practical perspective on how to build a sustainable data protection and resilience foundation for organizations, ” shared Henry Nguyen, Business Manager at Synology Vietnam.

Representatives from Synology Vietnam, along with experts, engaged in in-depth discussions on strategies for identifying and eliminating security blind spots and building sustainable data infrastructure.
A Synology representative pointed out that simple backups are no longer sufficient to help businesses protect operational continuity. "Blind spots" such as untested backups, insecure storage, lack of version control policies, or failure to align with realistic recovery goals can cause businesses to spend more time restoring systems, leading to operational disruptions and increased losses.
One of the solutions offered by Synology is ActiveProtect, a data protection platform designed to help businesses build cybersecurity resilience capabilities in a more centralized, simpler, and easier-to-deploy manner.
This solution helps businesses strengthen their data backup and recovery capabilities, increase backup security with mechanisms such as immutable backup and network isolation, and enhance governance and access control across the entire data protection environment.
Synology also emphasizes a multi-layered data protection approach. Accordingly, businesses not only need to have data backups, but also need to ensure those backups are recoverable, properly isolated, and maintain integrity in the event of an incident. This is also the foundation for businesses to minimize disruption, protect business operations, and maintain customer trust in an increasingly unpredictable and risky environment.
Through its presence at the Vietnam Security Summit 2026, Synology aims to partner with Vietnamese businesses in re-evaluating their data protection strategies, focusing on a more closely aligned approach to continuous operations and risk management.
With over 25 years of experience in data storage and protection, Synology continues to aim to help organizations build simpler, more secure, and more resilient IT infrastructure against modern challenges.
