As a habit, every morning, Mr. Phan Van Tong, the head of the Veterans Association in Binh Thanh hamlet, rides his old motorbike around the hamlet to inquire about the production and living conditions of the members. At 68 years old, with 41 years of Party membership and nearly 20 years serving as Party Secretary and Head of Binh Thanh hamlet, Mr. Tong is so dedicated to his work that he knows every small road and every circumstance of the people in the hamlet. Mr. Tong shared: “Uncle Ho taught cadres and Party members to be close to the people and understand them. If we just sit in the office, we won't know what the people lack or need to help them.”
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh's family is one of the cases that Mr. Tong has shown particular interest in and provided support to. Mr. and Mrs. Binh are elderly and in poor health, and their income mainly depends on a few acres of rice paddies, making their lives difficult. To prevent members from facing hardship, Mr. Tong and the branch association helped them access loans to develop their household economy , while also coordinating with relevant departments to guide them in applying science and technology to production. Thanks to this, Mr. Binh's family has gradually stabilized their lives and escaped poverty sustainably. Mr. Binh said: "Thanks to access to capital and technical guidance, our livestock farming model has developed quite well, and my family's life is less difficult than before."
According to Mr. Lam Thai Ban, Secretary of the Party Branch of Binh Thanh Hamlet, the learning and following of President Ho Chi Minh's teachings in the hamlet is concretized through practical actions closely linked to the lives of the people. "With the motto of doing everything that benefits the people, the Party branch not only focuses on mobilizing resources to invest in infrastructure serving production and local economic development, but also assigns Party members to be responsible for each household to strengthen ties with the people. Through this, we can promptly understand the thoughts and aspirations of the people to provide appropriate support. Thanks to this approach, the lives of the people in the hamlet are gradually improving, and the poverty rate is currently around 0.3%," Mr. Ban said.
Mr. Nguyen Van Thoan, Secretary of the Party Committee of Vinh Binh commune, said that in recent times, the Standing Committee of the commune's Party Committee has regularly directed subordinate Party branches and committees to promote the study and emulation of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, ethics, and style, linking it with the content: "Learning from Uncle Ho means constantly caring for the material and spiritual lives of the people through practical and concrete actions, contributing to consolidating the trust of cadres, Party members, and the people in the Party." As a result, the awareness and responsibility of the Party committees, government, Fatherland Front, mass organizations, cadres, and Party members have undergone many positive changes, especially the spirit of setting an example and the consciousness of serving the people, which has been increasingly enhanced, contributing to improving the effectiveness of political tasks in the locality.
The Party Committee of Vinh Binh commune has implemented many practical programs to care for the lives of the people. Among them, the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses has supported the construction and repair of 132 houses for disadvantaged households, with a total cost of over 8.3 billion VND. In addition, the locality has mobilized philanthropists to support the construction of 8 rural traffic bridges, with a total cost of over 4 billion VND, contributing to creating favorable conditions for people's travel and production development. Furthermore, the locality has also donated nearly 2,000 gifts, essential goods, and school supplies to disadvantaged students and vulnerable people in the commune.
Alongside this, many innovative models and approaches continue to be maintained and effectively promoted, such as: "Each organization and individual is linked to a humanitarian cause," scholarship and talent promotion funds, free house construction groups, zero-cost stores, etc. These contribute to helping the poor improve their lives and achieve stability. Emulation movements and "effective public mobilization" models such as lighting rural roads, flower-lined roads, environmental sanitation, culture and arts, traffic safety, security, and order have also spread widely, contributing to changing the face of rural areas.
“In Vinh Binh, the interests of the people are always put first. Cadres and Party members strive to care for the people and dedicate themselves to their well-being. This is a vivid manifestation of learning from and following Uncle Ho's teachings – doing everything that benefits the people and avoiding everything that harms them,” Mr. Nguyen Van Thoan shared.
