VN-Index falls for the third consecutive session.

The stock market experienced significant volatility on May 28th amidst weakening capital flows. The VN-Index fluctuated within a range of 25 points: rising 8 points, then falling nearly 17 points before narrowing its losses and closing down 11 points.

The market was engulfed in red. Without the pull from VHM, which hit its ceiling price and contributed nearly 9 points to the VN-Index, the index could have fallen significantly further.

Besides VHM, several other large-cap stocks managed to stay in positive territory, helping to prevent a sharp decline in the VN-Index, including: VRE, BSR , KDC, GAS, VNM, MSB, PNJ, VPL, VDS…

Most major stock groups on the market, such as finance (banking, securities), real estate, industry, consumer goods, and raw materials, all declined. In particular, the "leading stocks" faced significant selling pressure, falling sharply after the positive gains of the previous session: HDB fell 3.18%, TCB fell 3.12%, VPB fell 2.67%, VCB fell 2.18%, TPB fell 2.15%, EIB fell 2.73%, etc.

At the close of trading, the VN-Index fell 10.76 points (0.52%) to 1,863.67 points, with 217 stocks declining, only 89 rising, and 62 remaining unchanged. Conversely, at the close of trading on the Hanoi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index continued to rise 3.33 points (1.18%) to 285.56 points, with 47 stocks rising, 78 falling, and 58 remaining unchanged. Liquidity decreased, with the total trading value on the HOSE exceeding 19,500 billion VND, down 2,700 billion VND compared to the previous session. Including the HNX, liquidity was only about 20,400 billion VND, down 4,600 billion VND compared to the previous session.

Foreign investors continued their net selling streak for the sixth consecutive session on the HOSE exchange, with a total net selling value of nearly 113 billion VND. The top three stocks experiencing the strongest net selling were HDB (over 119 billion VND), FPT (nearly 73 billion VND), andSHB (nearly 67 billion VND).
