There are some schools where female candidates must achieve 30 points to pass, such as female candidates in the North majoring in medicine at the Military Medical Academy; female candidates majoring in international relations at the Military Science Academy.

This year, the whole country has 19 military schools participating in the entrance exam for full-time military colleges and universities. Of these, 17 schools provide university training and 2 colleges (but 3 schools provide college training because 1 school enrolls students at both levels).

Military schools enroll 4,383 students for military university and college training, of which some facilities allocate training quotas abroad and training quotas at non-military universities.

According to regulations, candidates applying for admission to military universities and colleges must pass a preliminary selection. Young people outside the military must pass a preliminary selection at the military recruitment board at the district, town, city level under the province; active soldiers must pass a preliminary selection at the military recruitment board at the regimental level and equivalent.

All military schools when considering university admission only consider candidates with the first choice to enter their school.
