Generations of Yen Bai people still remember that moment, that morning in the middle of autumn (September 25, 1958), thousands of ethnic people in Yen Bai province were all happy to be present very early at the town stadium to meet Uncle Ho in joyful and happy emotions. Then, the people of Yen Bai were even more surprised when he came to visit in a very simple and modest outfit with a faded khaki shirt, he warmly greeted everyone from old to young.

That day, right at the town stadium, he praised and commended the achievements that the Party Committee and people of Yen Bai province had achieved in recent years. He encouraged the people of all ethnic groups in the province to unite, actively develop the economy , and build a new cultural life.

For the people in the highlands, he said: “People must cultivate in a stable manner and increase production”. He also advised people to voluntarily participate in labor exchange groups to help each other in economic development; to know how to eliminate backward customs. Then, they must promote emulation movements, and must know how to save to improve their lives…

Following his teachings, during the period of 1958-1965, the Party Committee and people of all ethnic groups in Yen Bai joined hands and hearts, striving to compete to successfully complete the task of economic restoration, reform and establishment of socialist production relations.

During the resistance war against the US to save the country, with the spirit of "all for the front, all to defeat the US invaders", the army and people of Yen Bai both produced, fought, and were ready to support the great front line in the South. Tens of thousands of young people of all ethnic groups volunteered to fight the enemy; thousands of beloved sons of Yen Bai heroically sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland, contributing to the great victory in the spring of 1975, completely liberating the South and unifying the country.

Over the past 65 years, the Party Committee and people of Yen Bai have always kept in mind and steadfastly implemented Uncle Ho's teachings. In particular, for more than 35 years, together with the whole country, implementing the renovation policy initiated and led by our Party, the Provincial Party Committee has closely followed and creatively applied the policies of the Party, the State and Uncle Ho's thoughts to local practical conditions; enlisted the help of the Central Government, the sharing and companionship of other provinces, united in heart, mind, and strength, aroused potential, promoted internal strength, combined with mobilizing resources to build and develop the province, aiming to become a well-off province in the Northern Midlands and Mountains as Uncle Ho advised.

Entering the 2020 - 2025 term, Yen Bai has determined the philosophy of rapid and sustainable development in the direction of " green, harmony, identity and happiness", determined to become a fairly developed province by 2025 and be among the leading developed provinces in the region by 2030. This is concretized into 3 strategic breakthroughs, 7 key tasks, and 19 main targets. In particular, the socio-economic development targets are all built at a high level of striving, belonging to the group of fairly developed provinces in the region.

To achieve these goals, the Party Committee, government and people of all ethnic groups in Yen Bai study, follow, and apply creatively, in accordance with local practical conditions.

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Minh - Party Cell Secretary, Head of Lang Gia Village, Yen Thang Commune, Luc Yen District said: In recent years, in order to concretize the study and follow Uncle Ho's teachings, effectively implement socio-economic development tasks, and contribute to the construction of new rural areas in the locality, the Party Cell has issued a specialized Resolution "Mobilizing people to donate land for road construction and contribute funds to build model new rural areas".

At first, mobilizing people encountered many difficulties. After that, the Party cell sent the Front Committee, village unions, and prestigious people to the family to meet, talk, listen, and explain. In particular, they used typical examples of pioneers in the land donation movement of the commune and district to propagate and persuade. Thanks to that, people agreed to contribute their efforts and donate land to build roads to build new rural areas.

At the 19th Party Congress, term 2020-2025, Yen Bai was the first locality in the country to boldly include the happiness index in the resolution's target.

Provincial leaders, leaders of departments, branches and localities often participate in weekends with the people.

After half a term of implementing the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress and the Resolution of the 19th Provincial Party Congress with high political determination, great efforts, along with the spirit of solidarity, dynamism, proactiveness, and innovation of the entire political system, business community and people in the province, Yen Bai has achieved positive and quite comprehensive results.

It is estimated that 18/19 targets have been achieved and exceeded the Resolution's targets, while 1/19 targets need to be strived to achieve the target. In particular, most of the main socio-economic targets are in the group of fairly good provinces in the region, with some targets being in the group of leading provinces in the region and the whole country. The goal of becoming a fairly good province in the Northern Midlands and Mountains is gradually being realized.

Flowers for Uncle Ho

Starting from a poor mountainous province, Yen Bai today has become a bright spot in the Northwest region in terms of new rural construction. Tran Yen is honored to be the first new rural district in the Northwest region. New rural has become the most exciting emulation movement, bringing miraculous changes and happiness to the people.

Khuon Bo village, Hong Ca commune, Tran Yen district, this is the first Mong village in the province to achieve the model new rural village. This achievement is the result of a process of persistent efforts and creative ways of learning and following Uncle Ho.

On September 24, 2022, in Nghia Lo town, Yen Bai province was honored to hold a ceremony to receive the UNESCO certificate recognizing "Thai Xoe Art" as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity. This is an event of special significance, contributing to introducing the quintessence of national culture, promoting the image, country and people of Yen Bai as well as the Northwestern provinces.

On September 24, 2022, in Nghia Lo town, Yen Bai province, it was honored to hold a ceremony to receive the UNESCO certificate recognizing "Thai Xoe Art" as a representative intangible cultural heritage of humanity.

At the Ceremony to commend advanced models and typical examples in studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style in the period of 2021 - 2023 held on September 23, Yen Bai Provincial Party Secretary Do Duc Duy said: Right from the first year of the term, the Provincial Party Standing Committee issued a Plan on building and replicating advanced models and typical examples in studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style in the period of 2021-2025. In which, clearly defining the criteria for building 10 types of collective models, 3 types of comprehensive and diverse individual models in all areas of social life.

To date, the province has had over 7,800 collectives and individuals (including 3,912 collectives and 3,897 individuals) registered to build advanced models of studying and following Uncle Ho, double the number in the 2015-2020 period. The Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee has selected and honored 65 outstanding and typical collectives and individuals in the 2021-2023 period.

It can be seen that studying and following Uncle Ho in recent years in Yen Bai province has brought about substantial results and become an important content of the Party building and rectification work, contributing to building a clean and strong Party in terms of politics, ideology, organization and ethics. From a party cell initially with only a few party members, up to now, the provincial Party Committee has continuously grown and matured with nearly 470 grassroots party organizations and over 61,000 party members, worthy of being the flag to gather and build the solidarity bloc of ethnic groups.
