On June 12th, a source informed reporters that during the search for the victim whose limbs were found in an empty plot of land in Tan Phuoc Khanh ward, Tan Uyen city, Binh Duong province, the police received over 100 reports from residents about missing persons.
"Every time the police receive information about a missing person, they have to verify and investigate. In most of these cases, after verification, the person is still alive," the source said.
The forces had to cut open each garbage bag to search for clues.
In addition to verifying each missing person report, the forces had to scour all the garbage dumps.
"The search was very difficult because these garbage dumps always smelled foul, and the rescue team had to cut open each garbage bag and turn it over and over repeatedly to see if they could find any other body parts of the victim," the source said.
The police also cooperate with those who collect and dispose of waste. When they discover any suspicious signs related to the victim's body being disposed of by the perpetrators, they are instructed to quickly notify the police.
The victim's body parts were found in a red handbag in an empty field.
Over the past period, the Binh Duong Provincial Police have implemented a comprehensive range of investigative measures. The police believe that the victim in the dismemberment case is most likely from another locality, and they do not rule out the possibility of a foreigner, a stateless person, who came to Binh Duong province to work or live, with or without registered temporary residence.
Therefore, the provincial police directed the police in communes, wards, and towns to review the cases of citizens residing in their areas who went missing on or before May 16th.
The verification process followed the principle of "going door-to-door, checking every house, and contacting every person" to determine whether the victim in the above case resided in their local area.
Currently, the Police Investigation Agency has initiated a murder case to investigate and clarify the matter.
During the investigation, the Binh Duong Provincial Police issued a nationwide notice to search for the victim's identity. The victim was an adult male, between 1.68m and 1.7m tall, who had died approximately 8-14 days before being discovered (May 26).
