Fostering Vietnam-Thailand relations

The visit of the General Secretary and President to Thailand demonstrates the determination of both countries to deepen their friendly relations and expand economic and trade cooperation.

On the afternoon of May 27, General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife, along with a high-level Vietnamese delegation, arrived at Udon Thani International Airport (Udon Thani province), beginning an official visit to the Kingdom of Thailand at the invitation of Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and his wife from May 27 to 29.

The close bond between the two nations

Immediately after landing at Udon Thani International Airport, General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife, along with the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, visited the Ho Chi Minh Memorial Site to offer incense and flowers in remembrance of President Ho Chi Minh and toured the historical site where President Ho Chi Minh once lived and carried out revolutionary activities.

After the incense offering ceremony and a visit to the thatched house area, which preserves many traces of the years when President Ho Chi Minh lived and carried out revolutionary activities in Thailand from 1928-1929, General Secretary and President To Lam wrote in the guest book and presented books and documents about President Ho Chi Minh to the Management Board of the historical site.

In the guestbook, General Secretary and President To Lam expressed his emotion upon visiting the historical site; he highly appreciated the efforts and dedication of the Vietnamese community in Thailand in preserving and restoring the site, while always remaining united in their roots, preserving the Vietnamese language and national cultural identity, and fostering friendship between the people of Vietnam and Thailand.

According to General Secretary and President To Lam, the historical site is not only a sacred historical and cultural landmark for the Vietnamese community in Thailand, but also a vivid symbol of the close relationship between the Vietnamese and Thai peoples over the past decades.

The General Secretary and President expressed his wish that the Vietnamese community in Thailand would continue to uphold the patriotic tradition, make increasingly positive contributions to their homeland, and play an important bridging role in the friendly and cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Thailand.

To commemorate the 136th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birth and to spread the spirit of learning from and following his precious teachings, General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife planted a commemorative tree at the historical site.

Leveraging the resources of overseas Vietnamese

On the same day, in Udon Thani, General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife, along with a high-level Vietnamese delegation, met with officials and staff of the Vietnamese Embassy and Consulate General, nearly 600 Vietnamese expatriates living, studying, and working in Thailand, and representatives of the Vietnamese community from Laos.

Informing overseas Vietnamese about the situation in Vietnam, General Secretary and President To Lam said that this visit would include discussions with high-ranking Thai leaders on future cooperation directions; affirming that in this process, the Vietnamese community in Thailand always serves as an important bridge, contributing to strengthening the friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.

The General Secretary and President acknowledged that the Vietnamese community in Thailand has settled down, integrated well, preserved their cultural identity, and always looked towards their homeland; including preserving and developing the Ho Chi Minh Memorial Area, the Vietnamese Street, and other cultural relics and works of the community in Udon Thani.

The General Secretary and President affirmed that the Party and State always consider the Vietnamese community abroad, including the Vietnamese community in Thailand, as an inseparable part of the national unity, a valuable resource for the country, and an important bridge for fostering friendly relations between Vietnam and Thailand. In that spirit, the Party and State always pay attention to and support the community to ensure they have a solid legal status, stable lives, and good integration into the local society, while simultaneously promoting their cultural identity, remembering their roots, and remaining connected to their homeland.

The General Secretary and President expressed his hope that the Vietnamese community in Thailand would continue to unite, remain stable, develop strongly, integrate well, make positive contributions to the local society, preserve their national cultural identity, look towards their homeland, and further deepen the friendship between Vietnam and Thailand.

The General Secretary and President also requested the General Association of Vietnamese People in Thailand and its member associations to further develop their role as a common home, uniting and supporting overseas Vietnamese to develop together. Vietnamese representative agencies in Thailand should continue to do well in foreign affairs, protect citizens, and care for and stand alongside the community.

After concluding activities in Udon Thani province, on the afternoon of May 27th, General Secretary and President To Lam, along with his wife and the high-level Vietnamese delegation, arrived in Bangkok to continue their official visit to the Kingdom of Thailand. During the visit, General Secretary and President To Lam is expected to meet with the King and Queen of Thailand; hold talks with Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul; and attend the Vietnam-Thailand Business Forum…

Promoting business linkages between the two countries.

On the afternoon of May 27th, in Bangkok, General Secretary and President To Lam received Mr. Thapana Sirivadhanabhakdi, Executive Chairman of TCC Group and CEO of ThaiBev Group (Thailand).

General Secretary and President To Lam welcomed TCC Group and other major corporations to develop modern distribution, logistics, and supply chain systems, actively linking with Vietnamese businesses to develop green, sustainable production, distribution, and consumption models, ensuring food safety standards, quality, social responsibility, and consumer protection. General Secretary and President To Lam expressed confidence that Thai corporations and businesses will continue to operate in compliance with the law, openly, transparently, and with healthy competition, creating additional value for bilateral cooperation.
