Steady production, pioneering digital transformation

(Baothanhhoa.vn) - Officially generating electricity and connecting to the national grid in 2018, by the end of June 2025, Trung Son Hydropower Plant had generated a total output of about 7 billion kWh of electricity to the national grid. Not only operating safely, Trung Son Hydropower Plant is also known as a "bright spot" in proactively adapting to digital transformation and ensuring labor safety.

Steady production, pioneering digital transformation

Trung Son Hydropower Plant operators check and monitor operating equipment during their shift.

In the first 6 months of 2025, Trung Son Hydropower Plant produced more than 390 million kWh, exceeding the assigned plan by 14% and increasing by nearly 6% over the same period. This result is especially meaningful in the context of unstable water flow to the lake. Mr. Vu Xuan Dung, Director of Trung Son Hydropower Company Limited, shared: “To effectively implement the “dual” goal of both stable power generation and ensuring water resources for downstream areas in volatile weather conditions, we have increased monitoring of hydrological conditions and rainfall in the area to promptly update, analyze and forecast water levels in the reservoir; proactively develop appropriate regulation plans according to each hydrological scenario. Along with that, the unit also continuously coordinates with related sectors and other reservoir operators on the Ma River system to develop appropriate water regulation plans at each time. Thanks to that, the plant can optimize water storage, proactively supply water and generate electricity, while minimizing the risk of serious water shortages downstream”.

TSHPCo also maintains a safe operating procedure, preventing serious incidents. The unit strictly carries out periodic inspections and maintenance of all equipment and units according to the standards of Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) and Power Generation Corporation 2 (EVNGENCO2). In particular, improving the capacity to analyze and handle incidents during operation is a highlight. The plant's operating engineers have been extensively trained, regularly coordinate drills, and are ready to respond to emergency situations.

Trung Son Hydropower Plant is also one of the pioneers of EVNGENCO2 in implementing digital transformation. The application of IMIS 2.0 software has helped digitize the entire operation management process, from monitoring unit parameters to maintenance planning. In addition, IoT applications and big data are exploited to monitor equipment status in real time, thereby promptly warning and providing optimal solutions.

Along with production activities, labor safety is always a top priority for TSHPCo. The unit maintains regular training for staff and workers; organizes safety risk inspections and assessments and invests in modern protective equipment. During the inspection of the implementation of work items in the fields of safety - environment, fire prevention and fighting, rescue, natural disaster prevention and search and rescue in 2025, the delegation of EVNGENCO2 highly appreciated the proactive implementation of tasks at Trung Son Hydropower Plant; at the same time, requested TSHPCo to continue to maintain and promote this task to successfully complete the production and business goals and plans in 2025.

With the achieved results, TSHPCo is gradually realizing the goal of becoming a model hydropower plant of EVNGENCO2 in terms of modern management, high technology application and sustainable development. “We will continue to innovate, improve operational capacity, promote digital transformation, ensure labor safety to not only complete the task of electricity production but also contribute more to local socio -economic development”, affirmed Chairman and Director of TSHPCo Vu Xuan Dung.
