Operators at the Trung Son Hydropower Plant inspect and monitor operating equipment during their shift.
In the first six months of 2025, the Trung Son Hydropower Plant produced over 390 million kWh, exceeding the assigned plan by 14% and increasing by nearly 6% compared to the same period last year. This result is particularly significant given the unstable water levels in the reservoir. Mr. Vu Xuan Dung, Director of Trung Son Hydropower Company Limited, shared: “To effectively achieve the ‘dual’ goal of both stable power generation and ensuring water supply for downstream areas under fluctuating weather conditions, we have intensified monitoring of hydrological conditions and rainfall in the area to promptly update, analyze, and forecast water inflow into the reservoir; proactively developing appropriate regulation plans according to each hydrological scenario. In addition, the unit continuously coordinates with relevant sectors and other reservoir operators on the Ma River system to develop appropriate water regulation plans for each period. Thanks to this, the plant can optimize water storage, proactively supply water and generate electricity, while minimizing the risk of serious water shortages for downstream areas.”
TSHPCo also maintains a safe operating procedure, preventing serious incidents. The unit strictly implements periodic inspections and maintenance of all equipment and generating units according to the standards of Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) and Power Generation Corporation 2 (EVNGENCO2). In particular, improving the capacity to analyze and handle operational incidents is a highlight. The plant's operating engineers have received in-depth training, regularly participate in drills, and are ready to respond to emergency situations.
Trung Son Hydropower Plant is also one of EVNGENCO2's pioneering units in implementing digital transformation. The application of IMIS 2.0 software has helped digitize the entire operation management process, from monitoring generator parameters to maintenance planning. In addition, IoT applications and big data are utilized to monitor equipment status in real time, thereby providing timely warnings and optimal solutions.
Alongside production activities, occupational safety is always a top priority for TSHPCo. The company maintains regular training for its staff and workers; organizes safety risk assessments and inspections; and invests in modern protective equipment. During the recent inspection of the implementation of work items in the fields of safety and environment, fire prevention and control, and disaster prevention and search and rescue in 2025, the EVNGENCO2 delegation highly appreciated the proactive implementation of tasks at the Trung Son Hydropower Plant; and requested TSHPCo to continue maintaining and developing this task to successfully achieve the production and business goals and plans for 2025.
With the results achieved, TSHPCo is gradually realizing its goal of becoming a model hydropower plant of EVNGENCO2 in terms of modern management, application of high technology, and sustainable development. “We will continue to innovate, improve operational capacity, accelerate digital transformation, and ensure labor safety to not only fulfill our electricity production nhiệm vụ but also contribute more to the socio-economic development of the locality,” affirmed Vu Xuan Dung, Chairman and Director of TSHPCo.
