A border commune in Ha Tinh province is becoming more modern thanks to the new rural development program.

Through unity, the people of Quang Tho border commune (Vu Quang district, Ha Tinh province ) have worked together to transform what was once a difficult rural area into a clean, beautiful, and well-maintained place.

The quality of life for the people in Hamlet 3 (Quang Tho Commune) is constantly improving.

Quang Tho is a border commune of Vu Quang district, formed by the merger of Huong Quang and Huong Tho communes in 2019. Following the merger, the locality faced many difficulties, with limited transportation infrastructure and meager economic conditions for its residents, making it extremely challenging to mobilize funds for various initiatives, especially the new rural development program.

However, thanks to the close leadership and guidance of the local Party committee and government, the support of all levels, and especially the unity of all strata of the people, Quang Tho commune has made new progress. The face of the commune has changed for the better, and the lives of the people have continuously improved.

The people of Quang Tho commune are conscious of beautifying their gardens every day.

Mr. Tran Ngoc Van, Secretary of the Party Branch of Hamlet 3, said: "Our hamlet currently has 70 households with over 250 inhabitants. Although the population is small, the people are very united, especially in the construction of new rural areas. Proof of this is that to date, the hamlet has built 25 model gardens that meet provincial standards, a bright, green, clean, beautiful, safe, and civilized residential cluster, and the gardens of the houses have all been tidied up by the people. In particular, the hamlet achieved the status of a model residential area at the provincial level in 2023. This is a driving force for the commune to strive for the goal of a model new rural area."

Mr. Nguyen Van Tuan, a resident of Hamlet 2, happily shared: "Previously, due to difficulties, people didn't prioritize building new rural areas. Since receiving support from the local authorities to develop economic models, the quality of life has improved, and everyone is actively participating in activities and movements, especially the construction of new rural areas. Now, along every road and in every garden, we are all consciously taking care of our land every day, working together with the government to help our commune develop further."

The roads in Hamlet 2 (Quang Tho Commune) are well-maintained and beautiful.

Quang Tho is also a Catholic commune with 35% of its population being Catholic. Thanks to promoting unity between Catholics and non-Catholics, Quang Tho has successfully built an advanced new rural commune. Currently, the locality is focusing on the goal of becoming a model new rural commune.

Ms. Hoang Thi Hoa, a resident of Hamlet 7 (a predominantly Catholic hamlet), shared: "Through the propaganda and mobilization efforts of the hamlet and commune officials, we have understood the purpose of the new rural development program is to benefit the people, so everyone is responding positively. The lush green fences and model gardens, laden with fruit all year round, have made Hamlet 7 a truly livable place. We will continue to preserve and further develop these in this new year of the Dragon."

The improved appearance of Quang Tho border commune in recent years is the result of the innovative thinking and leadership methods of the commune's Party Committee, with specific policies and guidelines that are appropriate to the local situation and have harnessed the strength of national unity.

Mr. Nguyen Hung Cuong, Chairman of the People's Committee of the commune, said: "After the merger, closely following the practical situation of the locality, we have developed a resolution to restructure the agricultural sector, focusing on crops and livestock with high productivity and economic value. This is considered a major breakthrough for the locality and has brought effective results. Proof of this is that to date, the locality has built nearly 200 economic models generating incomes exceeding 100 million VND; the lives of the people have also improved significantly."

Mr. Duong Quoc Thanh's orange orchard is laden with fruit.

Mr. Duong Quoc Thanh, a resident of Hamlet 1, said: "Thanks to the support and assistance from the local authorities, we have had more opportunities to develop our economy. Currently, my family is growing 1 hectare of oranges according to organic standards, generating an income of over 200 million VND per year. This income has helped us rise out of poverty and become a well-off household in the locality."

The lush green vegetable gardens are carefully tended by the people of Quang Tho commune.

The people of Quang Tho commune focus on developing production both to generate additional income and to help keep their gardens clean, beautiful, and tidy.

It is known that Quang Tho commune currently has more than 150 model gardens; 10 residential clusters that are bright, green, clean, beautiful, safe, and civilized; 100% of the roads are concreted; the irrigation system in the fields has been invested in comprehensively; and the landscape of the villages is regularly improved...

Beekeeping provides a decent source of income for the local people.

The new rural landscape here has emerged with many colors. Welcoming the new spring, from inside the houses to outside the alleys, people are carefully tidying up, and a civilized way of life is spreading to every home.

According to Nguyen Hung Cuong, Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Tho commune: "In addition to encouraging people to focus on economic development, in the coming time, the locality will concentrate on the goal of becoming a model new rural commune. The locality will take advantage of all resources to improve the transportation infrastructure system, build new rural highlights; spread good models and practices to each residential area, making Quang Tho a peaceful and vibrant countryside."
