A former resistance base commune in Soc Trang province has achieved the new rural standard.

Mr. Phan Thanh Tung, Secretary of the Party Committee of My Phuoc commune, said: My Phuoc commune consists of 13 hamlets, is a remote rural commune of My Tu district, and was a revolutionary base area of ​​the Soc Trang Provincial Party Committee during the resistance war.

Over the past 13 years of implementing the National Target Program for New Rural Development, My Phuoc commune has achieved many outstanding accomplishments. Specifically, the commune has adjusted its planning to align with the socio-economic development orientation of the commune for the period 2021-2025, meeting the requirements for restructuring the agricultural sector in conjunction with responding to climate change, urbanization, and protecting the rural environment; and establishing functional service areas to support rural economic development, in accordance with the local socio-economic situation.

The roads have been paved with asphalt and concrete, ensuring convenient year-round access for vehicles. The mobilization of resources for building new rural communes (2010-2024) has reached over 813 billion VND.

After 13 years of implementing the National Target Program for Building New Rural Areas, the percentage of solid and semi-solid houses has reached 85.21%; there are no temporary or dilapidated houses.

People's incomes are steadily increasing, with the average per capita income in the commune reaching 62.16 million VND/person/year by 2024; the rate of trained laborers reaching 71.05%; the rate of households using clean water according to standards reaching 71.1%; and the rate of households using electricity regularly and safely from local sources reaching 99.98%. There are no longer any temporary or dilapidated houses in the commune; the number of solid and semi-solid houses in the commune is 3,334 out of 3,927 houses, reaching a rate of 85.21%.

On this occasion, two collectives and four individuals received commendations from the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee for outstanding performance in building My Phuoc commune to meet the standards of a new rural commune. Seven collectives and fourteen individuals received certificates of merit from the Chairman of the District People's Committee for their contributions to building My Phuoc commune to meet the standards of a new rural commune.
