The 2026 U17 World Cup will take place from November 19th to December 13th in Qatar, featuring 48 participating teams. Since last year, FIFA has made this tournament an annual event to promote the development of youth football worldwide.
To date, FIFA has confirmed 39 participating teams. Africa has only confirmed one spot, the U17 Tanzania team. Asia has confirmed nine spots: U17 Qatar (hosts), U17 Saudi Arabia, U17 Tajikistan, U17 Australia, U17 Uzbekistan, U17 Japan, U17 China, U17 South Korea, and U17 Vietnam.
Europe has 11 teams participating in the World Cup: Spain, Belgium, Montenegro, Croatia, Denmark, France, Greece, Italy, Ireland, Romania, and Serbia. Seven South American teams are also participating: Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Colombia, Ecuador, Chile, and Venezuela.
The CONCACAF (North, Central America and the Caribbean) region has confirmed its 8 participating teams: the United States, Mexico, Costa Rica, Honduras, Panama, Jamaica, Cuba, and Haiti. The Oceania region has 3 participating teams: New Zealand, New Caledonia, and Fiji.
Most likely, the Vietnam U17 team will be in the fourth seed group. Therefore, the "Golden Star Warriors" could potentially face top teams in the world such as Brazil, Argentina, Spain, and France.
In last year's tournament, the Indonesian U17 team was in the same group as Brazil, Zambia, and Honduras. The team from the archipelago suffered a 0-4 defeat against Brazil, but they also made history by securing their first World Cup victory, beating Honduras 2-1.
