The highlight of Round 9 was the clash between Phong Phu Ha Nam and Hanoi. Despite having already secured the championship two rounds early, coach Tran Le Thuy still fielded her strongest lineup. The home team hoped to extend their winning streak. Although somewhat disappointed at losing their chance to catch up with their rivals, Hanoi still played with great determination against Phong Phu Ha Nam.
Hanoi (in red) finished as runner-up in the tournament.
In the first half, both teams created an exciting attacking game. Opportunities were evenly distributed between the two sides, but the strikers unfortunately missed their chances. Hanoi understood that they still needed a win to secure second place in the standings.
In the second half, the capital city team played better. Captain Nguyen Thi Thom constantly urged her teammates to push forward and look for a goal. But on a day when they lacked luck in front of the opponent's goal, Hanoi had to accept a goalless draw.
In the other match on September 9th, Ho Chi Minh City faced Than Khoang San Vietnam (Than KSVN). This season hasn't been a good one for the mining team. Despite having stars like Bao Tram and Nhat Lan, victory seems to have eluded Than KSVN. They only managed a 0-0 draw against Ho Chi Minh City.
With this result, Hanoi secured the runner-up position, while Ho Chi Minh City won the bronze medal at the 2023 National U19 Women's Football Championship.
