Recently, a parent whose child attends Ngu Binh Primary School (An Cuu ward) posted a complaint about the school lunch program on the Hue-S application (Thua Thien Hue province's Smart City Monitoring and Management Center).
"My child attends the boarding program at Ngu Binh School (Nguyen Khoa Chiem Street). I pay the monthly fees in full and on time, with a daily meal costing 25,000 VND. However, when I went there and saw my child's food, it was like this, plus a small bowl of soup and a tiny packet of milk. It's not nutritious enough, and the food portion is very small. I respectfully request that the relevant authorities investigate this matter," the parent complained.
A meal was reported to Hue-S by parents.
Speaking to reporters, Mr. Truong Dinh Hanh, Vice Chairman of the Hue City People's Committee, said that he had just directed the City's Department of Education and Training to verify and report on the matter.
"The organization of school lunch programs is an agreement between parents and the school. However, all schools that provide lunch programs for students are required to publicly display and list prices and menus," Mr. Hanh said.
The Vice Chairman of the Hue City People's Committee shared that the view is that meals for students must ensure nutritional value, with food safety and hygiene being the top priority. The city has also recently established an inter-agency team to inspect food safety and hygiene in schools throughout the area.
"Regarding parents' feedback, once the report is available, the Hue City People's Committee will direct the handling of any issues that may exist. In addition, we will continue to direct relevant units to strengthen inspections, supervision, and reminders to schools organizing school lunch programs," Mr. Hanh said.
