Along the path of volunteering and spreading love, there are those who silently and persistently dedicate themselves to building a humanitarian journey with profound humanistic values.

Giving is forever

Mr. Nguyen Duc Quan, born in 1986 in Binh Han ward, is a model and active volunteer of the Hai Duong City Red Cross Society. His interest in and commitment to humanitarian activities began during the Covid-19 outbreak in the city in 2020.

Mr. Quân recounted that he used to be so caught up in the whirlwind of work that he paid little attention to his surroundings. When the pandemic hit and activities were disrupted due to quarantine, Mr. Quân had time to reflect on life. Seeing the hardships faced by the anti-epidemic forces, he volunteered to help and support them. From transporting agricultural products for sale to assisting with sample collection for testing, Mr. Quân was proactive and enthusiastic. "At that time, although it was stressful and difficult, I felt a sense of relief. From then on, I realized that you don't necessarily need a life of abundance to be happy and joyful; sometimes helping others makes you feel more relaxed and at ease," Mr. Quân shared.

When the pandemic was brought under control and the new normal returned, Mr. Quan still dedicated time to charitable activities. Gradually, participating in and supporting humanitarian movements became an important part of his life. Not only did he directly contribute and support, but using his personal reputation, he also called on relatives and friends to join hands in helping those in need. He always believed that doing good deeds must come from the heart, so that time and money wouldn't be the primary consideration.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Huong has made many contributions to humanitarian and charitable work in Tu Ky district.

Having dedicated 10 years to leading the local humanitarian movement, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Huong, President of the Tu Ky District Red Cross Society, has left a lasting impression. Prior to her work at the district Red Cross Society, Ms. Huong worked extensively in the cultural and information sector. While she previously participated in volunteer activities, it wasn't a regular occurrence. Only after changing careers did she have the opportunity to fully devote herself to charitable and humanitarian work.

The Tứ Kỳ district has many unique characteristics, with a large number of disadvantaged people needing assistance while the available resources for support are relatively limited compared to other localities. However, humanitarian and charitable work in the district is always vibrant and highly regarded. This result is not only due to the collective efforts but also to the dynamism, enthusiasm, and responsibility of Ms. Hường in mobilizing and collecting donations. Ms. Hường never hesitates or shies away from any situation requiring assistance. Ms. Hường says that everyone has compassion, but merely thinking about it without acting makes it difficult to sacrifice personal interests to contribute to society.

Building a compassionate community

Humanitarian work has always had profound social significance and impact. These charitable and humanitarian activities not only alleviate the losses and hardships of those in need but also demonstrate solidarity and mutual support. In Hai Duong, humanitarian work is implemented through a variety of rich, diverse, and practical activities. Campaigns to provide assistance to those in difficult circumstances, as well as meaningful community programs, have spread love, noble deeds, and a sense of responsibility towards the community and society.

Young people in Nam Sach district, sharing a passion for volunteering, have connected and established the Nam Sach Youth Volunteer Club. Although each person has a different background and occupation, within this shared volunteer community, everyone wants to contribute their abilities to support those in need.

For the past nine years, the club has regularly organized weekly charitable porridge cooking and haircutting for impoverished patients at the Nam Sach District Medical Center and the Hai Duong Psychiatric Hospital. Nguyen Dinh Phuong, the club's chairman, affirmed: "Compassion is the thread that connects us all, allowing us to spread the spirit of humanity. Some people, after receiving help, become active volunteers. Some contribute money, others contribute their time, so no one hesitates or fears hardship."

All acts of support and sharing with the disadvantaged, vulnerable, and unfortunate in society, whether small or large, deserve recognition. A single act of kindness builds a humanitarian journey, connecting people together. According to the provincial Red Cross leaders, charitable and humanitarian activities in the province have been frequent and continuous. Especially during Humanitarian Month, various levels of government, organizations, and individuals have actively implemented many community-oriented activities, creating a prominent mark in the province's mutual support and compassion movement.

Over the six years of implementing the Humanitarian Month, Red Cross branches at all levels in the province have mobilized more than 50 billion VND, assisting over 62,000 poor and disadvantaged people; organizing humanitarian medical examinations and providing free medicine to over 13,000 people. In addition, the branches have supported and donated 353 houses, organized 17 zero-cost markets for the poor in the province…
