Building a peaceful, friendly and developed homeland of Vinh Binh

The history of reclaiming the land of Vinh Binh today is closely linked to the history of reclaiming the land of the South, where our ancestors reclaimed, established villages and hamlets. In 1708, when Ha Tien town was established, Vinh Binh land was still a wild jungle.

By 1738, when Kien Giang district was established under Ha Tien town, the area south of Cai Lon river - today's Vinh Binh land - began to have people come to reclaim, establish villages, live and develop until now.

Vinh Binh was formed through many generations of settlers. This place is not only rich in rural products but also bears the mark of revolutionary struggle history. During the two long resistance wars, Vinh Binh was once a "base of the people's hearts", where the people wholeheartedly protected and hid cadres, contributing to creating the strength of great national unity to defeat the enemy. In 1964, when Vinh Thuan district, Rach Gia province (now An Giang province) was established, Vinh Binh was one of the first four communes of the district.

In 1868, the insurgents of National Hero Nguyen Trung Truc chose Vinh Binh as a base to fight against the French. During the two resistance wars against the French colonialists and the invading American imperialists, Vinh Binh was the place that suffered the heaviest bombardment.

During the 3 times of implementing the strategy of “uprooting U Minh grass”, Vinh Binh was an important gateway that the enemy sought to attack to deeply destroy the U Minh base from the 4th tactical zone and their command center of Chuong Thien. However, this place became an important base of the Southwest Region and the Central Office of the South. This was the place where the Rach Gia Provincial Party Committee, the Southern Administrative Committee, and the Southwest Region were located.

This land is also the end point of the 1C weapons transport route - where iron and steel melted, but young men and women in their twenties still bravely overcame the enemy's fierce pursuit, bringing ammunition and food to safe assembly points.

Vinh Binh is also the base of Hospital 121, which opened many first aid classes and provided health care for soldiers and people in the resistance zone.

This place is also known as the place where the art troupe and the Propaganda Department of the Rach Gia Provincial Party Committee used to eat, live and work together for a long time. It is the place where generals such as Dong Van Cong, Nguyen De and Phan Trong Tue used to stay and stay to command the fight against the enemy, making resounding achievements that made the enemy terrified. This is also the place where the first helicopter and armored vehicle victories of the Southwest region took place.

When mentioning Vinh Binh, we cannot help but mention the places associated with the period of land reclamation and development such as: Duong San, Keo Mot, Cai Nua, Ba Dinh, Binh Minh, Nuoc Chay... Vinh Binh is the land that gave birth to and nurtured many Heroes of the People's Armed Forces such as Mai Van Truong (Tu Truong), Mai Thanh Tam. At the same time, it is also the birthplace of many generals in the People's Public Security Force, contributing greatly to the cause of protecting and building socialism today.

From the revolutionary base of the past, Vinh Binh today has taken on a new look. The straight concrete roads, pineapple gardens, rice fields, fish ponds, fertile shrimp farms, and the peaceful life in the hamlets are proof of positive changes. From a land rich in revolutionary traditions, Vinh Binh commune is gradually transforming strongly on the journey of building a new countryside, towards a sustainable development future.

With the tradition of solidarity, affection and determination of the entire people, Vinh Binh is day by day affirming its position as a developed, peaceful commune with a strong identity, worthy of being a land of "affection to remember, peace to live, development to reach far".

From a land full of wild animals, dark jungles, rampant diseases, and countless dangers; from the shackles of colonialism, feudalism, oppression, and exploitation by landlords; the people of Vinh Binh knew how to unite into a community, conquer harsh nature to serve life. They united, were resourceful, and fought bravely against the invaders, becoming a solid base of the people's hearts, sheltering and protecting many Central leadership agencies, Rach Gia Provincial Party Committee, and many Party leaders and military generals.

Overcoming countless difficulties, sacrifices and hardships, Vinh Binh has continued to promote the tradition of solidarity, creativity and innovation to create a Vinh Binh of love, peace and development.
